Try to let go of feeling guilty, we have to pave the way for our own careers, it's our job - no one elses. It's healthy and expected that we drive our own careers, especially when you find something you call your "dream job". Those opportunities will teach you so much and make you better as an employee and quite frankly, as a person. You got this!!
It took me some time and experiences to realize that as much as you feel camaraderie with your team or appreciation for your employer, it is a job and the company looks out for its best interests. You have to do what is best for you - career growth, learning, pay, etc. and you are doing nothing wrong by branching out and exploring options. Interviewing while you have a job is better than interviewing from a layoff or unemployment.
Also, the fact that you’re interviewing means they see a possible fit so they obviously don’t think you’re inadequate! You have the skills and potential!
No guilt. There isn’t a single employer out there who wouldn’t let staff go to save the company. I have yet to meet a man who has guilt over interviewing. You look after yourself.
Oh people expect you to leave places! How else would anyone get a job anywhere. You got this, it's totally a normal thing to do! I've never had anyone on a team that didn't get a big congrats from others when they announced their next role (unless it was suuuuper sudden how they left).
No guilt to be had at all! I agree with E1, and all. Otherwise you'd be at the same job your whole life. The best way to do it is to make sure your team is set up for success when you leave.
No guilt. One thing I really appreciate from my company is that they are transparent about knowing that people may want to further their careers within or without, and either is fine. Somehow it keeps more people in... ALL companies, no matter how good they are too their employees, will let people go if needed. The contract goes both ways. Good luck on your interview!
