I am just curious if anyone is considering switching career from tax/accounting to healthcare for better pay and WLB?

What are your thoughts? Pros and Cons you found so far? Been thinking about it the past 2 years and now seriously considering it.

Switched career from healthcare to tax so I can WFH. No regrets. Pre-med classes were a lot harder. The pay sucks unless you become a nurse or a doctor/NP/physician assistant. Harder to get a job. WLB was better though; never worked more than 40h/week. My response might be biased since I went the opposite side though.

thank you. this is helpful

What are you thinking about? Like going for MBBS/doctor route or registered nurse?
Money is not going to be better but you can have WLB

was thinking about doing a 1 yr accelerated BSN to be an RN.

What is a reasonable hour/salary ratio? For instance, on a 100k salary, is it unreasonable to work much more than 45-50 hours per week? I work ~55 per week, often more, and my salary is around this. I feel that I should be making more or working less and this is a bad trade but I don’t know if that’s wishful thinking. Also realize there are other factors but just looking at salary vs workload

Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.

Is this a dead lock? firms exp matters much more than a CPA license?

Now that they are gone, what do you feel would be helpful dates to keep in mind? For example, compliance deadlines (eg create a tax track), score release dates, holiday closures that provide you more time study? TIA! 🙏🏼

The only problem is my significant other has a lot of negative opinions about New York. I ultimately want to return to DC but I feel like a few good years in New York would be really good for me. In terms of a place to live, where in Manhattan can I find a place that's similar to River North in Chicago?
