I am lateraling. My start date is Sept. 7. I was planning on giving my current firm notice on Aug. 2 so my last day would be Aug. 13 and I would have a few weeks off before starting the new gig. Was just perusing the employee handbook of my current firm and found that the separation policy requires at least 4 weeks’ notice. I’ve never heard of this before, and I’m at a loss as to what I should do. I don’t want to lose the time off but don’t want to lose benefits for Aug. either.

Same here. How it works is you give them the 2 weeks. Even though they expect you to do 4. They fire you before those first two weeks are up. How it always goes.

My last firm had thirty days. When I gave them notice, they laughed at the thought of staying that long. Agreed upon about two weeks to wrap up a few things. It'll work itself out. It's at will in any case. You can quit today and not go in tomorrow and they can't do anything.

like

worst case is they code you as a no-rehire

like

Ask them to waive it. I did and my firm was happy to not have to pay me for extra time.

like

Why can’t you give notice this week? Sounds like you’re in the clear

Dont do this. You could lose benefits!

A policy is a guideline. Give two weeks. Don't let them push you into staying longer!!!

I’ve recently started working at an amazing company, I love everything about it! The culture, the people, the projects, the flexibility. However, the only problem is me really. I’m fully aware that in life there will be some difficult people to work with, but my patience and tolerance has dropped significantly. I hate that because it took so much for me to get to this position of happiness, I’m carrying my personal baggage and might be scaring people slightly. (1/2)

There have been a lot of posts in the law and big law blog about legal recruiter comp. It seems to range a lot (saw second-hand info from $60k to over a million). Also saw someone say the “average” recruiter makes more than a 5th year biglaw associate (which I think would mean $400k+). Can anyone provide ballpark numbers? Considering eventually moving to recruiting, but couldn’t leave to do it for $60k.
