I am level 1 resource. Need classroom management ideas. We've been placed on a block schedule this year due to Covid so I have students for 85 minutes every other day. I have a larger group who are all working at different levels and have different goals. I am constantly jumping from one student to another trying to work them but I am failing. I can't keep them on task, quite, or motivated. If I walk away from one, they're immediately messing around. Group work is a joke. HELP!

Over the last 12 months my role changed significantlu so in Jan I approached the CEO about a raise and promotion more in line with my work and he said yes - but not until until the end of Q1 when budgets are finalized. Covid hit and I was told all promotions and raises were put on hold. I never got a Q2 review bc my manager said the raise was up in the air still. But on Friday the CEO sent an email listing 17 promotions, not including me. Im meeting w my manager tomorrow but idk what to say.

What % of your students have difficulty with reading? Have you asked if parents had difficulties with reading? Dyslexia is more common than we realize, and I would love to know if you use any specific curriculum for students with Dyslexia.

In what ways are you as a SPED teacher held accountable by admin, district or your team? Any specific deadline, team building time, duties, etc? I’m and EA with teachers who aren’t held accountable.

I need your help, please. I have a student who simply does not stay on track unless an adult is monitoring him. His quizzes go unfinished and writing assignments are put aside to browse online.
I also would like to ask if there is a way to prevent him from browsing other websites online during instructional time?

I am open to suggestions on how to keep him on track during Math and Writing assignments. Any assistance with this would be helpful.

How do you deal with students that say they don’t know what to do after you have repeated the directions multiple times?

Hi SpEd Teachers, is anyone else facing EXTREME staff shortages as a result of state funding? We are not able to meet my students' IEP requirements (not even close) due to not enough paraprofessionals and the district flat out refusing to hire more. I've lost 70+ hrs/week of para hours over the past few years and my students are really suffering. This leaves our district open to lawsuits, but the real problem is the state's education budget. What can we do?? This isn't going to fix itself.
