I hate assignments and think they're unnecessary. Someone should be able to speak to their experiences in the interview. It's up to the interviewers to ensure they're asking the right questions to get at the root of what they're trying to learn from the assignment. I think, especially at that level, you are going to have a lot of well qualified people bow out. You could pay them for their time/work, but even still. Whenever someone asks me to complete an assignment, it's always something that could still benefit the company even if they don't hire me and I'm not okay with that.

♥️I feel you. Have you at least voiced concern on why? It may cost them more time And money. Maybe if you're able to somehow showcase that they'd pay attention more?

Agree. Youre asking candidates to work for free before an offer. I have had better luck having a candidate go over a previous project they worked on so there's not too big of an ask of someone just interviewing.
