I have been in the pharma industry for 2 years and I have 2.5 years of undergrad research in microfluidics and nanofabrication for cancer cell identification. Accepted an insanely good offer at a v20 but will need to leave my bottom v100 where I’ve become comfortable and well known by over 20 partners. Partnership was on the table at the v100 but I just could not turn down the v20 offer. How do I break this to the v100?

Big4 and Mid tier- All partners have a vesting period and if you leave before that 10 year mark , you dont get those retirement benefits correct? I noted some firms actively push out partners nearing that 10 year period. I have seen it happen. How does it work at McKinsey / Bain ? Do those same distinctions exist across partner types, owner vs non owner?
