I am looking for start-up bootcamps! If anyone has good experience or recommendations please comment!! I have some business ideas but do not know where to start. I am looking to find a start-up bootcamp that is very hands-on, provides essential trainings (e.g.: building a business plan, marketing including social media etc.). Ideally if they match you with a mentor or build connections/partnerships, that would be great! I’m in NYC and would love to do in-person

I would look for startup week type events or search local accelerators. I know Techstars has an office in NYC and holds community events. Other accelerators like Y-Combinator and 500 startups might also hold similar types of events

Associate 1 is on the right track if you are pitching a very specific business case with the intentions to take it to market. Pivots are always a given, but it sounds like you may be too early for an accelerator if you are considering a few business ideas. You would be at the incubator stage, where there is generally a focus interacting with other founders, entrepreneurs in residence, etc. and building out a business model that you would pitch to an accelerator or angel eventually. Atlanta Tech Village is an example here where I live.

Do you think there’s a glass ceiling for out gay employees? I’ve been with my (now) husband for the last two decades and had three positions. I even took on the responsibilities of a senior director after his firing and I couldn’t get promoted. My handpicked successor — who I think is an excellent marketer — became a director almost immediately.

So I could use some advice for my startup. We currently are putting finishing touches on our MVP. We don’t really have any users, but we’re not sure if we should first try to secure funding (without users) or build up the user base first then go for funding. How much value do VC’s place on users before funding and how many users would they like to see for preseed funding. Any feedback is appreciated.
