A bit random, but has anyone exited to Apple and their new HQ? I’m super curious to hear how it is. And people that have left to FAANG in general, are the work place amenities/ bonuses worth it? Do you use them? Or does it just really come down to 💸💰? Apple Facebook (Meta) Amazon Netflix Google
Yeah. I got made redundant some years ago. It was a shock and I took it personally. I took time to grieve, then went to South America to trek and think. After that and 3 months of unemployment, I got a job overseas that put me on the path to BCG, among other things.
This is a loss but it isn't the end.
"Redundant" is a catch all term for any number of things. In my case, it was decided they were no longer going to maintain a team in my country, and do the work remotely, so my job ceased to exist.
OP, you can be sad, but when you're ready, move on to being defiant. Worked for me :)
11 years ago . . .the recession finally caught up with my former industry. I was a single parent and couldn't let my family see me freak out or get bummed. I went back to school part time while I collected unemployment. Just before those funds ran out I created my own marketing gig for small businesses and lead a small field team for the 2010 Census. The upskilling from school paid off. When the Census work wrapped up I had secured my 1st IT role. My emotions went from shame, anger, fear, hopeful, excitement and gratitude. My kids, well they've got grit now, too.
Your job does not define you. Your attitude does.
Op, cheer up. I lost my job as well. But lot of people are supporting me mentally. You only need to look forward. You will become stronger and more powerful as you go through this phase!
thank you!
