Here's some: How can I best serve you? What is your preferred communication method? Do you have some issues that you would like to discuss one on one, I'm happy to set up individual meetings. Can you share some concerns you've had in the past with HR and how you felt you weren't being heard?
Such an appropriate question from someone entering a new organization. This will be a very effective means of meeting and managing expectations. I’d suggest the following questions:
1. What keeps you awake at night, relative to your work?
2. What has HR done well here?
3. What has HR not done well?
4. How can I best support you?
5. What advice would you give a new HR partner to be successful in this organization?
6. What would you expect would be different in HR a year from now?
Thank you so much!
I would keep notes from each meeting, and use those to develop an HR plan. I would review that feedback and your plan with your boss, then circle back with the feedback providers and let them know what you heard, and what you will be doing going forward. I’d also ask them for ongoing feedback about how you’re doing, and produce a report of results, relative to the plan after the year has passed.
When I meet with people I like to get to know them (their history in the company and their philosophy in their leadership role, what are they responsible for as far as human capital and otherwise, and just a bit about the hierarchy who are they accountable to and vice versa).
On the human capital side - what are their current priorities or challenges and where do you see HR being able to immediately step in and add value? How can I best learn about your business / function (is there any data, reports, recording, upcoming meetings that would help me get acclimated with the nuances of your business)? As I get acclimated, what is the best frequency for us to connect? As a new partner what advice can you give me for best partnering with you and settling into this team and an effective advisor and collaborator?
If u have any openings for HR ops role please let me know.
