I am new to workday! :) I am sort of making it my personal mission to learn it so we can use it. Most of the people around me are not super knowledgeable. What is the best way to learn it for HR? Is that a silly question? I am currently just watching a lot of youtube. Tools and tips appreciated.

Welcome to the WorkDay(WD) party Lisa! Well what I did first to learn more about the functionality is the “Resources” tab on WD’s website. Depending on your work function you can select different functions to receive a more focused tutorial. I used the HR Mgmt tab to educate myself on what that looked like and even searched through the Analytics to view how it goes together

I’m new to the workday eco system as well- welcome! What’s been extremely helpful for me are the workday learning
and workday community sites. Lots of training (some free, some at cost). I hope this helps!

Ask if you can be part of the WD Community page, they have trainings as well as a FAQ section where you can pose questions and superusers can respond.

My biggest recommendation as someone who implemented WD at a previous company is to decide the process and stick to it for training purposes. It is very user friendly but typically multiple ways to do one tasks so need a united front.

I'm sure if you contact Workday, a rep would be able to schedule a training session. We are transitioning to that system eventually, so I don't have any suggestions of tools you can use yet.

I am fresh to Workday as well. Currently in week 3 of our implementation. We will be leaving Ceridian Dayforce soon.

I am in the HRIS world so this is definitely all I ever talk about (JK, I think 🤔) Ceridian has their annual conference in Vegas called Insights. If you’re new to this particular system, I would most definitely recommend you attend. *I will be attending for the last time since we go live with WD in April 2023*

+ If you have not heard of the Basecamp User group, I’d love to invite you too it. (It’s free and 100% customer led) Very very useful to be connected to a giant network of Dayforce users!

I used Workday with my previous employer. I didn't know where to learn Workday either so I just clicked on everything. I explored on my own with trial and error and it was fairly intuitive to pick up. It's a user friendly HRIS in my opinion.

I would say from a candidate point of view, Workday is really confusing.
It’s not clear whether you can submit your resume without needing to ALSO fill out each box. There is the option to parse info from your file into the system which is always cranky and doesn’t work, so the ‘upload file’ function looks like it overrides that but I’m not clear as to whether this would look like a blank application. Do you need to also fill in the boxes? Anyway there is some chat on the Workday bowl that people working there know that it’s not user-friendly from a candidate point of view.

I contacted a rep from workday. Luckily, someone answered my questions and other concerns. We are also new to workday so I cant really recommend some tools.

What resources are available for family members of a suicidal adult? Last night my BIL (whom I love deeply) was threatening to kill himself. His mother called 911 and the police brought him to the hospital. He was released this morning and is furious and still in an unstable state. He is an adult mid-20s. Does not work currently financially supported by family members. We struggle with how to help him through this crisis without further enabling him.

It’s so interesting how this virus spreads. Found out that my mom and sister tested positive while dad and I tested negative. Mom and dad obviously share a bed and my sister and I share a room. Now the house is divided and the infected people can’t leave their side of the house. I feel like I’m in a zombie movie or something.

Wanted to get some thoughts around whether you have a similar background and opted to or opted to not get their certification? Thanks!

Severance question. I was laid off from my last company and luckily found something a week after being let go. My old company found out I got a new job from my LinkedIn and now wants to take my severance away "because I don't need it anymore and it's not a good look for the company paying someone severence when they are employed somewhere else." This is after the Severence Plan Agreement was signed but before it has been paid out. Is this a normal practice this companies and laying people off?
