I am not confrontational at all. I have a coworker who will never stop talking. Minutes will go by with me staring forward not engaging because I have just zoned out, but the talking continues. I have so much work to do and this is not productive or building rapport. I wouldn’t even consider this a conversation when the person rambles at you for extended periods of time. Does anyone have any advice for how to politely handle someone who doesn’t pick up on social queues?

Just say, “I gotta run, I have a meeting right now.” Or “I have a meeting soon and need to prep for it”.

I would buy noise canceling headphones or whatever and be like “guys look what I bought with the tech subsidy etc” and just wear it a lot.

Just say something along the lines of "it was great to catch up but I mustn't keep you - see you later". And then walk off. Some people don't pick up on the social cues. If you actually like them, every so often when you have a bit more time, ask them to go for a coffee but put it in the calendar so they can see there's a start and finish time. Much easier to plan your time that way.

For those of you that have your own book of business (big or small), how did you go about getting your own clients? I do not live in the state that I grew up in/went to college in so most of my connections are law-school related. Even if I did, I grew up in a blue collar town so any connections I do have there wouldn’t materialize into a client base. I’m a 4th year now and really want to start growing a client base but have no idea how. HELP. I do corporate transactional law in mid-tier market.

I’m looking for new opportunities within Change Management. I have +5 years experience in implementations/CM work. I’ve seen a few opportunities within Big 4 that are interesting, but not sure I want to travel ever again. Does anyone know of any other opps with companies that require little to no travel?
