Teachers (at least most of them) have the patience of saints.

Their education is in your hands for now - just remember you probably won’t get another chance to be this directly involved in their lifetime.

Out of curiosity, is anyone else a single parent on here? I have 50/50 custody, but with all the school activities, on my nights alone I am making up time and working. Haven’t seen as many single parent executive women around.

I know I took out the loans and I should repay them and I’m normally fiscally conservative and against giving out free money. But I am hoping student loans get completely cancelled. It would greatly boost the economy if people do not have them hanging over their heads. However, forgiving what is currently there won’t help long term if the predatory practices around student loans aren’t fixed along with soaring tuition prices and salaries for administrators.

I'm in a group where I get great reviews each year and earn praise from clients, but partners don't invest much in me or let me work on the "good" deals (I always get the scraps). If you were me, would you go to a competitor just to stick it to people here? Or mail it in, shoot for a NEP/counsel-type gig, collect paychecks, and coast?

Honest opinion - student debt forgiveness is a great start but only a bandaid. And a pretty bad one at that. These loans should never have been needed in the first place. Public university should be affordable with a part time job and federal grants - like it was up until the ‘80s. But states have shirked their responsibility to provide affordable college education to their residents and now we are in a big shi**y mess because of it and everyone wants to call it a handout. Thoughts?
