I am deputed at the client office. I use PSL laptop only to check mails. But in my last appraisal my manager told me that I need to get 60 credit points for promotion. But due to client work load, i won't be able to do that. So, I have resigned from PSL mentioning the same that promotion will not happen.
But my manager told me that he will try to give me a promotion in next cycle (ignoring the credit points clause). He is asking me to withdraw resign
Shall I withdraw my resign? Persistent

Yeah, but you're not going to get hired as a new "blank slate" consultant unless you are fresh out of school. Experienced hires typically have to bring a specific skill set to the table
Post MBA, sure. But you're not doing anything that a MBB wants. Try and move within the firm and rebrand that way.
It's possible. But you need to get an interview first and that's most likely with a referral.
@Mck1: fair enough. Wish there was a way. MBA it is.
I hear ya OP. Experienced hire here. You really need to be able to bring something specific to the table. It's just too easy for McKinsey to go grab top new MBAs to bother with experienced hire recruiting for generalists
We also hired "experienced" associates.
Also disagree with McK, know several consultants offered "lateral"generalist jobs at M, but all coming out of other strategy consulting roles.
Thanks M1. But, if I was to start from scratch, is there a need that I would have to be doing what MBB is doing? Don't all entry level consultants get taught the MBB way?
Is your interest in reg/compliance?
@BCG1: would that be for the entry level or as an exp. hired? I would rather make my base strong so I wouldn't mind coming in, actually would prefer to come in with those fresh out of school and be taught the MBB way. Looking at this as a long term career thing rather than a sprint.
@OP - unfortunately, no. Not all new consultants are taught the MBB way. They're usually put into roles that are very task oriented (PMO, review, document) rather than roles that teach them to collect, analyze., and apply thought to a solution. The two days ppl get of the Minto Pyramid Principle don't count as training.
@P1: nope, which is why I posted this.
@McK1: MBAs come in as a generalists too though. Don't they? As an exp hired, are you required to go to MBA at some point?
@BCG1: thanks. Will look into that and start networking for a referral.
@OP - MBA hires do come in as generalists. While they do have some work experience, "experienced hire" in this context refers to someone hired directly from the working world as opposed to immediately after completing a degree. Those individuals hired from the working world rarely enter as generalists
@McK1: appreciate the insight. Hoping to come in as a generalist. So would have to do MBA then.
I can't agree with McK1
@BCG1: sounds like a different recruitment practice between the two firms. I'll start looking at BCG for an opportunity but also prep for MBA 2019 just in case.
Thanks S1.
