I am not in a position to judge but I RESPECT Christine Blasey Ford’s courage and what it means for millions of other people around the world. Thank you Christine Blasey Ford!

The problem with everyone’s argument here is it’s all idealist. You have to consider the context within which of all this is happening - politics! If Kavanaugh isn’t guilty, no Democrat will change their mind so why do we need an FBI investigation when the only thing it is assured to do right now is delay and hand the Democrats a fighting chance of keeping the seat unfilled irrespective of the outcome.

The most fundamental issue at the center of this testimony is no one but Ford is aware of what she is saying, and that in itself isn’t sufficient to derail the record of an individual who has been active in the public eye for more than 12years and has cleared 5 or 6 background checks.

Sexism isn’t enough to deprive him of a promotion that he deserves!

D2 - You’re so quick to dismiss someone who has had her life examined with a microscope by EVERYONE. I’m sure that if she had ANY doubt about who it was she wouldn’t have come forward knowing the intense and excruciating examination of every aspect of that night and her entire life. I mean the woman has basically been re-victimized in the form of death threats from strangers and strangers calling her a fake / liar. As someone who has family / friends that have been sexually assaulted I ask that you and others please show some respect!

I am a woman who was sexually assaulted. I 100% believe her. But that aside - I find the initial misrepresentation of his character (backtracked due to to a growing number of dissenters from his past) to be highly distasteful and a real market r of white male privilege.

Kasich and other Republicans with consciences are calling for an investigation. That speaks volumes.

The comments in here are exactly the reason why Dr Ford’s testimony is necessary. Beyond the sideshows, she had no reason to do this except for a civic duty . However , a select hue see it as a con job and normalizing bad behavior.

All the people she has mentioned who were witnesses all say they can’t remember this particular incident. She’s nice and seems credible but she could still be wrong

Haven’t followed it super closely, but haven’t 2 other women came forward about him too? He’s about to be elected into a LIFELONG position, being apart of decision making that will affect all U.S. citizens. At minimum the allegations should have an FBI investigation, which is welcomed by the Democrats/Ford, yet the GOP are against it. Seems fishy....

If this was a trial in which Kavanaugh would be put in jail for his actions I’d agree with Booze Allen, but I agree with Consultant 2. He’s about to be appointed to the Supreme Court and as a nominee he should be held to a higher standard. The fact that he and his party are against an FBI investigation into the matter is telling of his character and how much he believes in his own innocence.

If we are going to deny confirmations based on baseless contradicting claims, nobody will ever get confirmed without a supermajority.

But what if she is wrong; what if it was someone else who assaulted her? What if she thinks it was him, thought it was him all along, but was wrong? Is he guilty until proven innocent ?

BA, it’s not a trial, it’s a job interview.

Honestly I’m kind of annoyed that this is the focus, because he’s done a ton of other shady stuff that disqualifies him. But this is where we are. R’s handling of it has been deplorable

You realize that the FBI has already done a background check? Given that every person supposedly at this event has said they have no memory of it ever happening I’m not sure what else the FBI would be doing

The real issue is no one else has any recollection of any of these events. No one. As the only witness saying it happened there is a chance it never happened but after years of convincing herself something did happen she put a name to it. Maybe the incident did happen but it was someone she didnt know but over time it became this person she did know. Maybe he slighted her in some other way and that's how his name became part of the story. We will never truly know. But by destroying someone using 35 year old accusations sets precedent that we no longer need evidence to destroy someone. And sets this as a valid tactic for destroying anyone. Sadly it also sets back real victims if the tactic works but the story wasn't actually true.

I like how everyone jumps on judging ford and question her like they are some kind of an expert. I just hope your mothers sisters daughters are never put in this position. Just horribly shameless of you.

I was raped at age 16 by my then boyfriend. It took me 3 months to leave him. I only told 2 people. I’m a strong woman and you would never know it.I’d also never tell people who he is or what happened to me. But if that man were to be nominated for Supreme Court or run for Office, I absolutely would say something. But anything less than that I wouldn’t put myself through the disgust of people nor the constant reminder of the events. 90% of rape is going to be a he said she said situation if its not immediately investigated....

And yes, I believe Dr. Ford’s statements; I just question her memory after all these years. What if she is wrong? Believing something doesn’t make it true.

I do think its shady as hell that the senator Feinstein brought this forth at the last moment. Probably did that so the Republicans would have the least amount of time to nominate another candidate. *not a member of either party*

PWC1: I have to wonder why the letter only went to 1 member. Why not send the letter to every committee member? Followed by choice of lawyer? Why a polygraph? Why did this never come up in a previous background check? Or anything like it?
