Have I just had bad luck with the companies I've been at or is it like this everywhere? I've had 7 managers in my 4 years of experience, 3 in one year at my first position (which is why I left) and now 4 at the 2nd company in 3 years. There has been a mix of people leaving and people getting fired but the instability feels extreme.

I worked at a large insurance defense firm for 4 years out of law school. I really enjoyed the work itself, but the hour expectations kept increasing and I was getting burnt out. It my first job in clinical trials technology position prior to this I was in dentistry for 32 years and it’s taking me a lot to learn all the ins and outs of data analysis and some of the tech talk.

I was recently laid off. I am an Underwriter in the mortgage industry. There are thousands of us that are unemployed right now. I am hearing that other industries won’t entertain former mortgage underwriters. I am not certain why. Insurance companies have posted jobs with the statement “no mortgage underwriters”.
