San Diego > LA
Activities depends on what you like. If you surf and like outdoor activities than SoCal wins the day. Can't really think what activities SF wins in. Dealing with homeless people and paying inflated rent (if you can call those activities)?
Don't let a quick vacation well you on LA...
Traffic nightmares and bland weather don't do it for me
^75 degrees the entire year doesn't do it for you hu?
If we're talking weather and activities, San Francisco beats em all.
@PwC2 in what world does SF beat SD in weather? SD is paradise and SF has rain for half the year. Do you prefer the rain and cold and fog to 73 and sunny?
Salary range will be consistent with other large cities. $60K - $75K depending on practice, qualifications, etc... you likely won't get any salary adjustment upon transfer. The firm will keep you at your current salary unless you're from a low COL and it's a significant difference.
Starting staff at 59k at Deloitte. 62 for exp staff. COL is higher so find housemates.
Hate us cause u ain't us.
No not at all. LA isn't that great of a city. "You can drive 3 hrs for activities" isn't a plus for people from the east coast.
Why LA specifically? I was born and raised here and LA isn't that great. So many other wonderful places to live. If you're willing to deal with the traffic, go for it. SF is cool if you're into that type of city. SD is cool as well but too far from the rest of SoCal. Again, depends on your preferences. So many people move out here only to move back. Think about LA and get back to us
Umm, best mountains in the world are in CA. Mammoth Mountain is a 4 hour drive from LA. Tahoe is a 1 hour flight. Whistler is a 3 hour flight. That's easily just as accessible as anywhere else (unless you live in Colorado or something).
How expensive is the city, and can I transfer to our office here in LA? And what are your opinions? Any feedbacks are appreciated.
Audit starting salary is probably around $60k so do the math 5-15% raise each year depending on performance. You can find it all on glassdoor. As far as how much do things cost....LA is a massive area (not a "city") so cost depends on where you are and what you want. Use Zillow. LA is fun but lots of driving/traffic, which is exhausting and annoying. You're probably used to public transit on the east coast, which you will rarely if ever use in LA. The weather and activities are amazing though so take your pick.
I like summer and winter sports and so 75 all year isn't great. Surfing isn't an interest so whatever. I live near multiple major cities and tons of nature so I'm good not living in the desert.
And being used to good public transit is pretty big for me too
Public transit is nice, but doesn't really make a big difference. You get used to driving. Plus the lower COL makes it affordable to have a car.
I do enjoy the NY public transit though. Not being near a real mountain kinda sucks though. No good snowboarding east of the Rockies.
