I am in a similar situation. My understanding is that the current i140 and h1b work permit remains Valid . So after your new permit is processed, you can put in your 2 week notice and work for the old company for 2 weeks and then join the new one. Or, say the new perm and i140 gets rejected, you can continue to work based on the existing g i140.

Thanks! Based on the other response looks like after I change office, I can still quit and join a new firm (even if my employer hasnt initiated the re-do of my PERM) let me know if its your understanding too. Also, do you know if my current employer is obligated to start the new office location Perm within a stipulated time frame or they can take their time to start?

If it’s with the same employer then you don’t have to. You can but don’t have to since i140 is for a future position/role. When your PD is current, for you to apply for AOS, you can move back to the same office as the one that was on the petition if that is something you’d be comfortable with. If not, then your option is to refile. If ur planning to leave the employer after changing the office and your i140 is approved with the current employer, you leaving the current employer does not necessarily invalidate your i140 approval unless it’s on the grounds of misrepresentation, fraud or some error (there are specific reasons mentioned in the legal guidance). Your new employer will anyway have to file for PERM and i140 again. You only get to carry over your PD and the ability to extend visa beyond 6 years with a previously approved i140 that has remained approved (and not withdrawn) for 180 days since approval
