Does anyone know if MBB (Toronto) is hiring a lot these days? Currently working at big 4 (manager) with no case interview experience/ no mba … thinking it would at least take me 2-3 months to prep and network. Would trying to get in by Jan be too late? Also, my spouse is thinking of potentially moving to the states next year. Do you know if US MBB helps new hire with their H1B visa? (Understand it may be difficult but want to check if it’s worth trying)
Fish fam, when you think of Tech companies (large or small) who make their lasting purpose a greater priority than their quarterly financial results..which companies come to mind? Recognizing that public companies always have limits but on the emphasis they place on CSR but who do view as the leaders?
I was targeted for AMEX Platinum 75k offer, but I have an American Express corporate card and I’m eligible for an $150 statement credit yearly while I have my corporate card and 60k points if I apply
Picking a country to live and work in: my spouse is a Mexican citizen (with US green card) who works in Mexico City, and I'm a US citizen. We want to live together, but my spouse has great career opportunities in tech in MC, and finding a job in the US has been hard. I could likely get a job in MC, but I don't speak Spanish and my income would be much lower. How should we handle the decision of who moves where? We are both looking for tech jobs in the bay area, but we haven't had much success.
Want to invest in real estate in NYC, but I'm currently still on F1 OPT visa, is it worth it?
Facebook reached out to me for a role and I got the job. I was then told that I won’t be getting the offer because their immigration team thinks it’s a risk to give me the offer. Contd...
Currently in a rotational program at EY (first year out of undergrad). Got placed on a long term risk project and wondering if it’s worth it staying long term. Currently interviewing for the strategy team at a legacy payments company (think visa or Mastercard) and wondering if it’ll stifle growth doing internal consulting. Would definitely appreciate any insights on this as I’m not too sure who who talk to and ask. Thanks!
Has anyone heard about new labor instructions which are causing green card delays because entire recruitment process needs to be redone?
My I-140 and I-485 are finally filed today 🐠s!!! Just wanna celebrate this milestone before hopefully getting that green card sooner than later... 🤞🏼
Why is my credit score so bad? Just checked it and it's 702. 24 M. Have CSR and two other Chase cards, a couple other cards from my old bank I didn't close, and to my knowledge never missed a pmt
Anyone going through H1B transfer recently experienced delays at the receipt notice step? Lawyers said they submitted to USCIS 5 days ago, but still haven’t received receipt notice, so still no case number. Is this normal?
I want to hit Marriott Gold before my next business trip (so I can have my trip count towards the fast track from gold to platinum promo)... and I will be there if my 15 elite night credits from my Marriott credit card are applied (opened the card about three weeks ago). Is there any way to speed up the application of those credits? Anyone have any luck doing this via phone?
This is about to be the first month in my life where I'm unable to pay off my credit card statement balance (about 2.5k leftover) and I'm feeling like such a failure. Any tips on how to mitigate the impact of this and get out of the hole asap?
I already have CSR, Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex. Can I somehow downgrade my CSR to a free one given I already have these two free cards? Don’t want to cancel and downgrading to CSP is not ideal either :(
AMEX Platinum vs AMEX Gold?
Trump tweet on immigration suspension, what all visas it impacts? I am on temporary green card expiring in September
How do ppl, especially intelligent individuals like ourselves in consulting, amass so much credit card debt...like come on. You know credit isn't free $$!
Hey UK fish. I have a friend who’s trying to join Accenture London but he leaves abroad (France). Went to st andrews and worked in France. What kind of sponsorship dors he need visa-wise and is Accenture UK sponsoring visas? Thanks much!Accenture
Anyone has idea, how many Coronavirus packages and bailouts are left to keep the good news coming and keep the markets inflated?
Do you guys think the if Biden and Harris are elected, they would make the healthcare system better? By better I mean: less complex and cheaper for the consumer. With premiums and deductibles constantly rising, I feel like healthcare is getting out of reach, even for households with ~100K in income
Does anyone know if PwC will pay out a bonus after you have put in your 2 weeks notice? Specifically, it is a bonus for an actuarial exam. I have another job offer on the table, and they want me to start ASAP, but I’m not sure if I put my 2 weeks if they will cancel the bonus. Please help!!!
MBB & other strategy 🐠: what’s your average hours per week? How do you avoid burnout? Are you able to enforce some boundaries and maintain a decent WLB?

I turned down a bunch of jobs because they seem to be the same as pre covid. And honestly I don’t want to go back to the grind/ stress/ commute. And then they say people don’t want to work. Ummm people don’t want to slave themselves while you line your pockets thank you very much
To those in non-MBB: Would you rather have an offer in hand right now for MBB or FAANG pm? Assume it’s a lateral transition.
Ok, which firm thought United’s Lottery Bonus plan was a good idea? I know at least one of you on here worked on this idea.
Currently pegged as the defacto lead for my sub workstream with only one other project under my belt. I don’t know if this is complaining but I feel like I’m not ready to fill this role (contd)
Got an offer from BCG UK @ Principal level £150k base, £20k sign on.. is that on point / any views on salary increments on years 2/3?
Has anyone regretted getting a T10 MBA FT MBA? I already make 100k but am unhappy with my current job but the 200k cost seems scary. I’m thinking it’s still worth it because I’ve heard nobody regrets working 2 years less when they are older. Just wanted to get people’s thoughts
What are my exit opportunities as a tax senior in partnership tax? I cant take it anymore, I need to leave after this busy season. S2.
Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
How bad does it look to prospective employers to change jobs every 3 years? I've done this since college (12 years ago) and have tripled my salary as a result. Granted, I've switched between the same two companies each time, getting a big pay bump in the process. Now, the other company is looking at bringing me back again (3rd time). The pay bump won't be as big, but much better WLB, less travel, and I'll be able to do what I love. Opinions on this?
I spent the last 3 months "growing up" & now I'm ready to go. 1st thing is for me to get my own place. I'd like to buy instead of rent because I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage. I'm thinking of selling my car & cash out some of my 401k to buy a house. My thought is to put down 3.5% for a FHA loan then make a big payment towards the principal to reduce long-term interest. Anything wrong with this thinking or anything else I should consider?
*Post discusses infant loss* My daughter died soon after her birth earlier this summer. I took 2.5 months off and am back at work now. I’m doing ok being at work because we’re WFH. I can take breaks, I can wear fuzzy clothes, I can cry when I get a firm birth announcement without anyone seeing. We’re supposed to start back at the office soon and I don’t know how to manage that. My grief can be triggered in a million different ways. Any advice from your experiences? (also I am in counseling)
Thoughts on the future of Zoom and Nio. Currently making a loss on these holdings. Hold/ Sell?
