I am Payroll person at heart! I love numbers along with IT systems and Accounts. Here is my dilemma,
Firstly, I am new to the job market in the US. I am wondering the following with my 15+ years of experience in Middle East and Asia would count in this part of the world?
Secondly, What can I do to land a mid level job in Payroll field, Any recommendation for courses ?
The last question is will I land a job without any US based experience ?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge in advance.

I'd focus on completing and earning a payroll certification (there are many online) so that you can demonstrate to potential employers that you are versed in US rules/regulations/policies, etc.

Thanks, is American Payroll Association certification a good place to look into getting these ?

Have you thought about looking into compensation as a career path? You can get your CCP and that helps a ton.

Yes, I have. It's one of my options. While I complete my certification, what kind of jobs would any of you recommend that I would get hired for ? Any idea ?

Absolutely, as long as you have the skills and certs needed here. Not sure what sort of differences there are between regions.

They look at the number years of experience to gauge your skills. Recruitment actually doesn't care where you acquired your experience. What they want is you skill set to get the job done. They are looking at your interview scores and I promise they will not confirm your previous job from your former employer in middle east and Asia.

What's the most effective way for a small RIA to recruit FAs who have a few years experience, want to break away from large/corporate firms? I'm a $70M fee-only (commissions for insurance) independent RIA with a generous comp schedule that enables FAs to own their own book while they grow. As the owner, my focus is to help FAs succeed; as a firm, our focus is on client service and helping them succeed. I can afford a small salary, but not benefits. I'm especially interested in female FAs.

I have little visibility for my hard work and it’s frustrating nobody sees my contributions as “mine”. They ask her questions she then ask me. Bc we’re remote nobody sees what’s happening and I’m demotivated.

Hello. I am a Sr. Systems (Management) Analyst (equivalent to a Sr. Software Engineer), promoted to this position in 2019, from a Software Engineer position. I am doing really well and I always get great annual performance feedback. I work for a health insurance giant, that has a headquarters in MN (😉), but I am based in IN, with 10YOE total. I'm wondering how much I should be making, and if it is high time to ask for a raise or look for other opportunities and jump ship.

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

Hello! I have a two part question: 1) is it worth it to obtain an SHRM specialty credential if I don’t have the broader SHRM certification? 2) has anyone gotten the People Analytics or Talent Acquistion credential? If so, how valuable was it from a learning perspective? Do you feel it significantly contributed to your knowledge in either area? Thank you!
