Asking in terms of MBA applications. Hate the WLB, but would it be better to show being a manager/direct reports.
Can't you get a manager title with a new role?
If this is your desired post-MBA industry, I personally think it's a worthwhile switch (assuming you can make meaningful impacts in the new role within a year). If you stayed at your current role, you'd have to convince admissions you can do a function and industry switch which is a much harder sell imo.
WLB is a myth. Move because of better advancement opportunities and better quantifiable benefits (unlimited PTO, culture and WLB are not quantifiable).
