I am planning on building a PC in the next few months, commensurate with the price reductions involved with the new AMD & Intel CPU chips, the new GPU motherboard hardware, and inflated prices (Cont.)

You’ll probably want to wait - you’ll want your warranties to overlap as much as possible and there’s no guarantee that some of the releases won’t be delayed given what’s going on right now. They’ve already pushed back a few release dates

That’s an excellent point.

I think that’s a fair strategy. Buy components that won’t be obsolete in the next year. So get the latest RAM, PSU, HDD/SSD, cooling, peripherals. I think you can wait on the expensive NVME until you get your CPU. Get a decent sized case as a streamlined case may look nice, they’re a pain to work in and you may have issues fitting your GPU(s). When I built my first one, I had some dremel work to get my GPU to fit. Also decide on freesync or gsync, freesync monitors are generally more affordable. If you have a microcenter near you, they usually have very knowledgeable people there to help you out and usually sell CPUs at cost to get your foot in the door (I used to work here). It’s a fun little hobby, but I would never build a pc again unless I was doing it for professional work (photography/videography). Even then, I just got a great deal on a gaming laptop and use a MBP for video editing. Having a home server helps bridge the data storage too and sharing of files.

Is this your first build? There are a few websites that offer to build it for you. If you're worried about compatibility etc, I'd say go look at the parts on those pre-builds and make a list from those parts, then go get them or swap them out according to what you'd like. You can phase buying your parts, but keep in mind if it is dead-on-arrival, there is a window for such returns (DOA usually is for the MOBO or processor). It is rare for a DOA, though. If I'm not mistaken, there is a 30 day window. So, it is likely best to buy it all at once. Call me superficial, but I chose the case I liked, and based my build around the case. This way, I know it will all fit inside. You CAN do a small form factor build, mate. It is fun, adventurous, and a challenge! Buy a modular power supply and you're good to go.

...inflated prices due to low/no inventory returning to normal to pre-COVID standards. I will be starting from scratch, and I have been scouring r/buildapcsales for good deals. My question is: Should I hop on great deals on to buy right now (IE: perhaps a computer case, RAM, power supply?) from r/buildapcsales to hold on to, while I am waiting for the next few months for the inevitable price drops of the CPU and GPU motherboards? Or should I just wait a few months to buy everything (so I can test all parts to ensure they function as intended)?

My grandmother passed away recently, and I thought I would be very sad and cry, but I am not and I wonder if there’s something wrong with me. I was very sad and cried when she fell ill three years ago, but when she passed away I don’t think what I felt was sadness, more like emptiness... Is this normal? I’ve never had someone close to me pass away and I feel terrible because I am not crying.

I have an employee who is very sick with COVID (on life support in the ICU). I would like to do something to support his wife; they have 2 young kids & she’s expecting; I’m sure the stress on her is exhausting. Any suggestions for what would be helpful and appreciated? This is more complicated because they were out of town & he was hospitalized out of state, so it is hard for us to get anything to them in person. Also, I’m concerned about his team members and would love ideas to support them

Moms, both husband and I are nearing the end of our parental leave. We live in a two bedroom in NYC. We are thinking of hiring a nanny. The plan is that I would work from one room and husband would work from another room. We can move the changing table and pack n play in the living room, and the nanny and the baby can hang in the living room. Does this sound like a good plan?

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
