I am really tired and I think I’m burning out. I love my job, my account, and my team (for the most part). Working from home with 2 kids didn’t really hit me until I had to start picking up slack at work. I had found a good balance. But now I find I’m short with my older kid, house chores have gone undone, or work suffers. I had a review recently and I’m well received but the window for a raise or promotion has passed and they will look into it during the next open window (continued)

Omg that sounds like a dream! I’ve started looking into people in my neighborhood! Thanks!

I’m exhausted. My husband helps out a tremendous amount. It’s really trying to find a work life balance again and I don’t even know where to start.

I am in the same boat as you. I have taken a step back and am less involved in extra things at work right now, just focused on my job and others can handle the volunteer things. A few other suggestions: Try to take a few days off in the immediate future to take care of yourself (hopefully kids are in school and you can actually rest). Then plan for some days off over the rest of the year to give you needed breaks. Look for ways your kids can help with chores too. Try to block time in your calendar in the afternoon or evening and take an hour focused solely on your kids so you don’t have things competing for your attention and they get dedicated time with you. It doesn’t have to be 24/7, we’re human and not built to selflessly and perfectly care for others 100% of the time. Just a short dedicated time each day can help make a difference. As for promotion, once you’ve had time to pause/catch up/rest, you can decide to start a job search and explore what opportunities are out there or you can decide to wait for the next cycle where you are. It’s ok to do your job and stay at level and just be steady for a while to try to find balance. Some periods are exhausting and you have to acknowledge that a bit and not try to fight it or defeat it but navigate it. Hang in there 🤍

When was your last vacation?

Yeah, I have a small one that still needs me. I think I have covid fatigue too. It’s just so much.

Is it possible to take a few weeks/months off? On our extended team of about 100 people, we’ve had 3 women take LOAs of between two and four months.

That sounds amazing. But I only just got back from maternity leave a few months ago. My little one is 9 months. I’m really hoping when school starts it will feel a lot different.

You can’t realistically do two full time jobs (producer plus SAHM). Is this a temporary covid thing, or this is normal life for you? How old are your kids?

Oh we were in camp! And then someone in my sons group tested positive for covid it’s been insane. I have a feeling next week will be much better once school is back in session.

Does anyone know when we will receive promotion for July 2021 quarter?

One of your roommates (and a close friend that you’ve known for years) has a flight to catch. He has a suitcase, a duffle bag (no wheels), and a backpack. In order for him to get to the airport would you:

A) offer to drive him to the airport that’s about .5 miles away (5 minute drive)

B) tell him to order an Uber since you know his work would pay for it

C) tell him to not be lazy and walk half a mile to the nearest public transportation stop, with all that luggage, and take public transit

I am a field marketer. I travel and cover 12 states. HQ is across the US on the east coast. My manager put a surprise calendar invite twice now to go to home office without consulting dates to see if we were available. I stood up and asked to be included on available dates and said I will attend virtually but asking me to be away for 4 additional full days away from my family without asking me is not OK. I already travel a lot and this boundary is super important to me. Am I right or wrong?

Do you guys find it easy to meet interesting people and has the city gotten any more fun?
