I am scared! in my 5th week of pregnancy. Saw some dark red bleeding as soon as I woke up. Is this common?

Call your OB now. Don’t freak. May be nothing, but get it checked.

Call your Ob right away

Spotting is normal, but call your doctor to be sure.

Yep, at 5 weeks it’s totally normal. You can call your OB, but they’re just going to tell you to hang tight and call back if you’re having severe cramping, heavy bleeding, etc. It *can* be a sigh of miscarriage but it can also be absolutely nothing, and at 5 weeks there isn’t a whole heck of a lot you can do either way. I’ve had 2 mc’s and 1 healthy pregnancy (my 10 month old is playing right now!) and bled every single time. Try to stay calm and keep busy to keep your mind off of it. FX for you mama

If sporting that’s normal, happened to me too when having sex or walking a lot but I’ve always called my ob/gyn to check it out

Call your OB so you can get checked. I had a subchorianic hematoma (SCH) which is also very common and causes bleeding (mine was more than spotting and bright red). We just monitored throughout pregnancy and it eventually went away by 20 weeks or so.

Call your OB. how much blood was there? With my first healthy pregnancy I had light spotting around week 5-6. With my miscarriage, it was a gush of bright red blood. They said it may be a SCH and to monitor but a couple hours later, heavy bleeding and clots. Not sure if the SCH and miscarriage were related but it was definitely a lot more blood than spotting.

It sounds like it’s just normal early pregnancy spotting! Hope everything works out!

I had brown spotting starting around 6 weeks, my doctor took me in for an ultrasound that day and confirmed everything was fine (this was very reassuring). I had light spotting off and on throughout my first trimester and they never determined the cause. Bright red spotting (that would fill a pad) with cramps is the most concerning thing to look for.
