I am seeking advise from existing EPAM employees.

I got onboarded to Uber Project recently. This is my first time working in a Service Company. Have always worked in Product firms including a FAANG firm.I can definitely see there is no scope for me here in long term at EPAM.

Currently I'm finally getting calls from MNC product firms, but offering less Base than EPAM. My friend is suggesting me to leave EPAM before its too late, coz Recruiters will filter my profile in future coz of EPAM.

Based on my experience so far with interacting with Uber employees and interviewing in these past 4-5 months. I have realised Brand matter more when in interviews within 15-30 min, your past work doesn't matter much. Past companies are like brand.

Hence he was saying EPAM as brand will act as filter and Recruiters will filter me out.

I'm grateful to EPAM for current role and doing my sincerest job here. More sincere than any other job I have had. But that's more out of fear. EPAM may be paying premium but they are same as any other Service company when it comes to Client. And Uber employees were just the worst I have seen. I have also worked with Service company folks but never belittled them. This is sad part of industry. But we employees are not responsible for it. Yet Uber employees are first I have seen riding on cloud9 and looking at Vendors as nuisance.

Even if I forget about Uber. There is no Carrot for me in long run. As there is no upside for me to do great work. No stocks either that can yield me more return.

I thought about all these. I joined with intention to serve up my contract with the client which is about 8-9 months. Since most jobs internally in EPAM are contractual.

But now I'm being told that having EPAM in resume for close to 1 year would be detrimental. Hence I want to know about this from Senior Folks. EPAM has some really good engineers. But unfortunately Indian market and people are really shit. Nobody talks about your work, everything's brand. Even if you are given time to talk about your work, its very limited and hiring person has other priorities.

When I left FAANG level firm, I left to do some good technical work, and I did get some, but maybe due to fault of my own or I didn't understand industry well enough, I couldn't keep opportunities incoming.

All I now know, getting all 3 good work, appropriate title, appropriate responsibility and appropriate salary in same proportion is very difficult in industry. And a lot depends on this meaningless things, which are out of our control.

And I should tap into my existing network, which I didn't when I got laid off.

Same thing buddy. Decided to pack my bags within 2 weeks. I thought better to leave now then get an experience of 6 months or a year and keep justifying the HR why i am leaving so early. The other downfall would be you need to restart studying everything and now everything is afresh.

I am asked during this RE analyst interview to build a real estate model from scratch. My background is commercial banking and I am used to analyzing real estate deals from the lender side not the developer. The interviewer is generous I must say he’s giving me a few days to complete. Do you have model to share?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
