Kind of regret going into accounting/audit lol. Was anyone else told “accounting can do finance but finance can’t do accounting.” I was under the impression that transitioning to finance would be easy, but all the exit ops I see are senior accountant, internal audit, accounting advisory, etc.
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Precisely, Bangalore is hiring experienced professionals. DM me for referrals or you can mail your cv to email@example.com
I’ve put on about 20 lbs during covid lockdowns and haven’t lost a pound since. My SO loves me but (and I agree) has always been big about us keeping appearance and weight in check, first for our health but also for overall attraction. His take is if a disease somehow made me put on weight there’s not a comment he would make but in this case it’s really bad exercise and diet habits. I don’t disagree but I’ve never been so far from my target weight that I just don’t know where and how (cont)
I just cleared my AWS Cloud Practitioner exam and am curious whether I should pursue Solutions Architect Associate and/or Developer Associate certificate next. My plan is to get about 7 certificates in the areas that interest me, even though they are not needed for my role. Have you gotten both? Any recommendation to which to pursue first?
Moving to management: I have 3 YOE in PE and another 6 in a technical role. I want to move to management, what's your advice?

Thoughts: my colleague passed away this week. He had no bank nomination or will. His personal savings gone to the state and not his family. Observations: Beef up your life insurance
Starting a new role soon (PM role - Biz Ops) Folks that have made the transition, what type of prep would you do in the weeks leading up?
Hi there! I attended a virtual robotics workshop last week. I learned a lot and especially enjoyed connecting with others who were using robots in their classroom. I hope you join the discussion and we can find a way to support each other.
So I started at a new role at a known retailer about 2 months ago. I am their first hire in this role, as I have more than 5 years of relevant experience leading initiatives and optimizing process across departments. While I understand it takes time to adjust to the culture, its seems like all I have witnessed is resistance to change. I already feel myself not wanting to be here long, but I'm putting pressure on myself to not be a quitter. Would you stick it out or start looking?
Any good books on how to be liked or get along with others? Looking back in my career, I’ve always had friction my manager and disliked by more than one coworker. It very may well be me and I want to change. I think I have issues with authority and grew up as an only child, if that’s relevant. 30’s F
Advice on how to encourage more from a team member that does the bare minimum? They often aren’t very responsive online and a simple task will go on for days with little improvement. This is an individual I’m managing from another consulting firm, so the dynamic is different than your typical team.. so I’m not totally sure if it’s even in my wheelhouse to reprimand when it’s warranted. For weeks now I’ve been picking up the slack. My personality is not to be a hard-ass Manager. Help!
Nothing today on the S& layoffs?
I have 5 YOE and my current pkg is 6 approximately. I am preparing for interviews what number can I ask for as per the market trends? Would my current underpaid package affect this? Skillset- ETL BI tools(Oracle and SAP)
I am interested in discussing joint marketing efforts with other solo practitioners (DC, VA, MD area) where we could have 1-2 lawyers within each legal specialty. I am federal practitioner (bankruptcy, tax, immigration, federal compliance, employment),so I could refer many other types matters to a joint group. We could maintain our solo practices, but have more joint marketing
Considering moving and the two options are Chicago or NYC. Assume identical comp. Any thoughts on one versus the other? I’m leaning towards Chicago as of now — good blend of big city with decent COL.

This year we have seen a massive surge in hiring SAP consultants all through the country among other technologies too. What is the biggest offer you have bagged this year in SAP consulting with how many yoe ? If you are happy with your offer and are proud of yourself .. you can share the numbers. Just conducting a market survey for SAP standards.

Is Ronna McDaniel (GOP Chairwoman) on the same good stuff that Don JR. And Kimberly are on? This is hilarious: “Joe Biden can’t run from his disastrous record responding to the coronavirus.”. Ha ha ha ha ... ha ha ha ha. These people!
I have a date tomorrow after an important meeting with my client. I won't have time to change before. What should I wear that will take me from day to night? I'm female BTW
What are the range of salaries for a Sr. Buyer who does the contract during the Procurement process? Remote so any range would help. I was a logistics specialist E-5 in the Navy, then was a Manager at Amazon for 3 years, now I have 2 years with contract experience through IT software purchase. I feel I'm being underpaid, and would like to see what some of the salaries are. Thanks, Mike
Anyone else experiencing toxicity in remote startup environments? Greater abuse of time and personal freedom, less encouragement of empathy from leaders, delusions of far greater diversity accomplishments, lack of clarity and communication… How to clear the air and establish structure from afar… or GTFO?
I have a H1B visa that has been renewed once already. However in the designated period of 6 years I have been in the US for only around 2. Does that mean I can renew my H1B visa or reapply fresh?...
Also - got missed in the last post, but I just published changes to allow for inclusion of industry roles including a dropdown in the “stream” section and a place to include annual equity compensation
