Tata Consultancy Hi fishies, I recently interviewed for a Big data dev role for Autodesk but it's via a third party called Applicantz. Initially the contract is for 1 year, which can be extended. There is also scope of Autodesk hiring permanently after 6 months or 1 year. Can anyone provide some reviews about Autodesk and third party Applicantz. Usually I would not have considered anything via a third party, but the company(Autodesk) seems great and work discussed seems good as well.

I did. It’s totally worth it. More space, less rent, gives you a bit of a respite from the craziness into a more residential area. And I’m Indian so love the food.
My experience with the PATH train hasn’t been terrible. It has gotten exponentially better over the last few years. That being said, I usually head in from Grove Street around 8:30 and leave from WTC around 7, so the off-peak hours might be the reason why. 5PM is probably more hectic.
The thing that has always held me back is anywhere in nyc allows me to never think of train and bus schedules even if commute time is same or even longer on a subway. The idea of always keeping an eye on a train schedule even Path has been my mental barrier to more space/slightly less costs
You get used to it though.

Not a bad move to go to JC. Lots of great food and great people, especially if you’re south Asian.
But as a native New Yorker it just kills me slowly to think about becoming someone from New Jersey.
But I’m biased. I’d say go visit and see if you enjoy it. It’s a nice place to live.
Journal Square and downtown JC are good areas since they are near the PATH. JSQ would be more expensive since it’s the hub. Greenville is another option, but you would have to take public transportation to JSQ and that sucks for rush hour. There’s BJs, Shoprite, the mall, etc downtown and more things to do. It has low sea level(?) so when Sandy hit years ago, it had to be evacuated in some parts downtown. Otherwise, it’s good. Definitely less taxes in Jersey.
I’m doing the same thing in the Fall - I can’t stand the taxes and higher cost of living in Manhattan
When looking stay away from: Duncan Ave, Communipaw Ave, MLK Dr, Bergen Ave as those areas are dangerous. There is another street I can’t recall, but you’ll know if you research.
The Beacon Buildings have condo apartments space available, but personally I’d stay away because it used to be the old Medical Hospital for decades. If you don’t care about that, I guess you can give it a try.
Grove Street is also walking distance from exchange place and PATH is there, too.
Secaucus, New Brunswick, Teaneck, and Belleville are super nice, but you need a car.
Ah yes that's the one area of Secaucus that's nice. Everywhere else is a little run down
For Indian food, go to Newark Ave in JC. nickname is India Square. Lol. There’s also a huge White Castle that is a drive through.
Try weehawken and west new york - even more space with amazing views of NYC. Close to the weehawken ferry. Probably not the place for singles, but for couples and young families it's perfect. I moved out 2 years ago.
I love weeeehawken but it's so old. And expensive
Made the move 2 months ago. Paulus Hook is very nice. Great views and seems safe so far. Plenty of good food and I have double the space for the same rent that I had in the city.
what is nyc commute like? and apt or house/ballpark rents?
