I have a bit of a wild question about leaving a position and starting another one. A while back I was invited to speak at a conference, which I’m excited to do. Since the invitation though I’ve been looking to exit my current position. Would it be inappropriate to have my last week of work be the week of the conference? I’m concerned if I leave before I won’t get to attend (current job is paying for my attendance) but if it wasn’t a factor I’d probably leave 2 weeks from now lol

I have been in the US from Canada on contract for the past 6 months. My fiancé and I were supposed to get married and move here permanently in the fall. She has now called off the wedding, and has told me she doesn’t want me to move to the states. I got a great offer. Great job. Don’t want to lose the love of my life but I feel played. I worked so hard for this. She’s ripping out my heart, and taking my livelihood away. Am I wrong to not abide by her choice? Ask for the ring back?

My boss shamed me publicly in an email sent to the entire office. I am a marketing director and have handled multiple important campaigns, but I got sick and he called me "weak" and told my coworkers that they should avoid being like me. Huh.

I wanted to leverage the hive mind in finding out how best to negotiate a verbal offer for a 100%-remote Product Manager role in NYC, with a IT infrastructure/digital services firm (MNC but non-American):

Base salary: 120k

Sign-on bonus:10k

Bonus: 15%

How competitive is this, and what should I negotiate for please? The written offer comes after verbal agreement.

I've 10 YOE in tech project management; 7 in product management.

As the job market recovers and tech talent becomes especially sought-after, some job seekers can be at a crossroads.

Fledgling startup or a big, established company: where would you work?

Working at a startup helps you pick up new cross-functional skills, forces you to dig deeper into your reserves, and allows leadership opportunities.

Big companies typically have a more structured path for career growth, offer benefits and perks to employees, and are perceived as more stable.
