Make $120k Accenture now doing tech implementations, just got offer 200k TC EY business consulting. I love my job, have a great WLB (working 20 hours per week, no travel, clear path to M in about 1.5 years) - am I an idiot for even contemplating staying? What I would be doing is more PPT/functional vs Onestream/technical which I do now.

I was rejected maybe 60 times. You just need ONE. At the end of the day, if you're feeling drained, take a break, revise your resume, and start the game again.
You got this!

Thanks maybe I will take a break. However when I try to do that I always get a wave of interview requests so then it really just never ends. But thank you.

If you get to the final round even if you are under qualified compared to other candidates you can still get the offer.
There’s a lot of tricks to it but ultimately you want your interviewers yo acknowledge that the difference in experience won’t have a big impact in performance and that they would much rather have you as a colleague

This is good McK1, thank you for sharing. Will think about this.
It's all hyper magnified on here. Only the .0001% post on here to subtle flex their insane offers. Hope you persevere and find the role you have been looking for.
Community Builder
Thanks C1 hopefully that is the case. It’s just hard to keep doing this when it seems like you’re so close to the finish line.

Go easy on yourself. Trust me alot of people lie and also literally everyone and their mother want to get into FAANG nowadays. Keep pushing

Thanks for the encouragement. Really trying to celebrate the small wins but it is honestly a downer to keep getting rejected. I’m not sure if I just suck or if I’m just a very unlucky person.
Another annoying thing is that It’s just super difficult because most of these are just for “1 open role” versus consulting roles that have cohorts of people getting in. I start asking now how many people the team is looking to hire just so I set my own expectations.

Yeah this is kind of what I’m noticing too. There’s been multiple times where I’ve gone to the final round and I get rejected, and then the recruiter tells me I was one of 2-3 finalists. I die a little inside
Would love to know this as well. I’ve gotten so many rejections but I see people on here talking about their multiple offers with high compensation and I truly am happy for everyone finding new opportunities but it makes me a little sad knowing I haven’t gotten anything
I’m an analyst as well and will try removing the analyst title from my resume in hopes it makes a difference because I do think that’s a reason as well
Not sure if you’re open to it but from my experience tech really values experience in tech. So if you’re not getting FAANG offers maybe shoot for some “lower” tier tech feeder companies, work for a year, and then transition to FAANG.

JPM1 it really depends. I’ve interviewed for sales strategy & ops, go to market strategy, BizOps, business development, strategy & ops, data analyst, etc. in terms of diff types of roles. But for twilio it was a gtm analyst role and for salesforce it’s been a mix - mostly sales strategy & ops.
Same here. Have been trying for 8 months and honestly am just so tired of it too. Glad to know I’m not alone in this.
I know that feeling! I just want to say don't be hard on yourself. You only one yes!

Thanks Bain 1. Really wanting the ideal yes to come through soon.
I don’t have an answer do you but here is some encouragement someone gave me when I was in a similar spot. As hard as it is to be rejected multiple times you just need one yes.
Community Builder
Thank you for the encouragement, I think I needed to hear this. Just have to keep on chugging along
Same here, trying for 1yr now and got rejected for so many. And it hurts the most when it’s the final round. They say it’s a hot market right now, but I guess we’re just not lucky enough. Keep trying until we get there💪💪💪
Are you asking for feedback?
Community Builder
Yes. 60% of the time they say “the team went with someone that was a better fit/had more experience/etc.”, 30% of the time they say “I can’t share feedback” and the remaining 10% might be some small bit of feedback like “talk more about impact” or improving on case study structure or something. But usually if I get rejected at the on site I get nothing.
You can do it by switching your negative thinking, that’s a good starting point. It’s all about how you handle failure.

Good point Amazon thanks for your perspective. I definitely try to stay optimistic but I’ve been at this for over a year now so some days are harder than others for sure. I guess I just have to keep at it
Are you applying to roles that aren’t a right fit? E.g. applying to roles that require 4-5+ years of exp while you have 3?
Mentor
Required YoE aren’t one size fits all. Though they may play a role
I’m in the same boat interviewed with all faang and more. Keep grinding.

Thanks for the encouragement, hoping for the best for the both of us.
Keep trying and you would get it eventually! Also , don’t always look at comp package. Look for the next big exit opportunities this job might bring in . You could make 175K in SF, NYC. But if you make that much in Michigan, Ohio … you can live like a king .

Thanks for the tip Director. Ideally I would like to stay at the coasts but for the right opp I will consider other places.
