I’m in the same boat. One thing my therapist suggested that I find to work is actively applying for new opportunities and interviewing with other companies. Doing that in and of itself has released SO much of my anxiety. Even though I don’t have anything officially lined up, it gives me the hope that I can eventually move on when I find the right opportunity.
I feel ya. I’m relating to the struggle
You do not need THIS job to live you need A job to live. Leave and find something different.
I’m here too chat if you need a listening ear. My therapist has helped me prioritise myself. And yes Therapy is needed and it’s normal. I’m not saying I’ve come out of it or miraculously gotten better but I’ve started small, like reviving one of my hobbies/activities that I absolutely loved doing but stopped it because of the horrendous Job life. Hope this helps.
I agree with all these answers, and I also want to give a shout-out to anti depressants! You may already be on them or 100% ok with them but I know not everybody is. When they were first suggested to me, I had a a lot of religious baggage/guilt about it. But they help so much!!
I felt this way about my old job. Dust off the resume and start applying. It is a numbers game. It took me 10 months before I found the job I really wanted after 6 years being miserable and unhappy at my old job. I was rejected several times before I got an offer! In the meantime, my mantra was “I can’t control the situation but I can control my attitude about it.” Basically fake it till you make it. Find something about your work or workplace that you can be positive about. I did master a skill set at my old job that got me my new one. I liked to listen to music or podcasts to make the work go by faster. If I felt myself getting frustrated, I’d go down the elevator and take a walk around the lobby. I liked having little objects around my desk that brought me joy. Try to make some workplace friends - they can’t all be bad? It’s nice to have friendly chat to break up the day. You will not be at this job forever! Make a plan to leave and don’t give up. You are not alone - have definitely suffered mentally because we can’t all just leave a job we are unhappy with when you have financial burdens.
Love this response!! I’m in the same boat. Trying for a career change but it’s been a struggle.
I whole heartedly understand. Going thru this right this moment, harder than ever. Sorry you are going thru this too - reach out to your friends, family or therapist. Feel free to message me if you need to chat too. 😊
I recommend going to a resume writer. I did that last summer, and because of the new resume, I got a better job last fall. It is worth the investment!
