Just recieved a offer from Western Alliance Bank for a Senior Business Analyst role. Comp 100k but the role would be in office. I currently work remote, have unlimited PTO,and a really healthy work life balance but am being underpaid tremendously. The new role seems like it does not have healthy work life balance and many red flags have already come up. I want to grow my skills and wouldn't mind being in office as I do miss being around people. How do I vet the role before accepting?

I’m so curious about the different perspectives. I just joined earlier this year and Deloitte so far has been MORE than what I thought it would be and exceeded all my expectations.

Is there a place in the project where you can take on additional responsibilities or help out in other areas? This will allow you to grow your skills and pivot in the future.
Examples include: working on a proposal, asking around to shadow others, taking a training, asking your supervisor if you can take on more or different work.
What is the exact issue? What feedback are you receiving that makes you feel incompetent?

2 thing about ur comment above seems conflicting: u have convos around how to improve/perform at next level AND you are told you are meeting those expectations.
I noticed at Deloitte you have to really read between the lines when it comes to feedback. People here use flowery / soft language and the msg can get lost.
Hi OP, sorry about the situation.
I went through the same for the first 1.5 years at Deloitte. It is a tough to be in a place where your actual skills are not being utilized and you feel the project may not be a right fit for you. With the current scenario, changing projects may take time. Below is something I did while I was on those projects that weren't the best fit for me:
- Reach out to specific SM/PPD in the offering portfolio or the project you want to be in. Ask them if they need support for firm initiatives, proposal work etc. This will help you show them your work and skills. - Ask those same folks to connect you with other teams in areas where you want to work.
- Keep your coach informed over email (for record purposes) and take support from them if possible.
⬆️ All of this may sound generic and definitely you may have heard it before but now is the time to really stay afloat and jump ship when the time is right.
Hope you find a project of your choice ❤️ good luck!
Hi OP!
Yes, cold emailing. Let's say you attended a town hall or an all hands meeting where you heard an SM/PPD speak and felt wish you could work with them. Reach out to those folks. That way you also have a conversation starter about how & why you are reaching out to them 😉 additionally, search dnet and read through profiles thoroughly just to get a hunch. Choose the ones you feel may respond and send out brief emails with a single slider bio.
Great that you are meeting with your Coach for an hour long conversation 🙌 Start with the good things about your project and then let them know where/what you want to do next. Then tie in the aspect of why this project is not the best fit considering where you wanna go next. Keep your questions simple, open ended and let them do all the talking.
I was in a very similar state and decided it was not worth the Heartburn. I was in the brink of losing it and the last thing you want on these times is mental health issues. Just put down my papers last week and feel much lighter. Money can come back but life won’t. If you have some savings to live off - respect yourself and move on. You will eventually find something that you love and that loves you back!
Ahhh so happy for you!! Unfortunately, I have student loans and limited financial flexibility so I feel like I have to stick it through
I was miserable there too!
🙌🏻 When did you exit the firm?
What practice are you in? I can maybe try and help.you with my experiences
DM me:) let's chat. Fair warning I have been laid off but was at another big four for a while. Also can put you in touch with people who are very helpful at the firm
