Have you considered therapy? When I started going, I found myself in a place where I supposedly had everything I wanted (good job, nice apartment, romantic relationship, friend group), but I was absolutely miserable for some reason. I felt like I was constantly failing and pretending to be someone I wasn’t. Progress wasn’t linear, but therapy really helped me develop some skills to cope with negative emotions and identify the sources of my unhappiness.

I feel a lot better now! No longer in that relationship (go figure), worked through some childhood trauma I didn’t even realize I had, understood why my coping mechanisms weren’t sustainable/healthy and slowly developed new ones. I’m still in the same apartment but totally revamped the space with a new awesome roommate (now it feels like home!), and have a new role at my job which is much better than my old one. Don’t get me wrong, all of this was hard to get to. But I’m a totally different person than I was 3-ish years ago when I started therapy, and while making the changes I needed to make was very difficult, it was so worthwhile. My life isn’t totally sunshine and rainbows, and i’ve had to deal with some hard times, but it definitely is much better than it was for the version of me that first walked into my therapist’s office.
