I am struggling mightily at managing stress in a job/career I am not happy in. I took the job when my wife was in law school to pay the bills and I’m 5 years in. I desperately want to make a career change now that it’s financially feasible, but I don’t really know what my experience could translate to. I am an Asst Project Manager for a general contractor and have helped manage several $100M+ projects.

Any advice?

I have a notification that a Career Coach commented, but I do not see it. Was the comment deleted?

That was me. I originally asked what industry you were in, but I noticed it was already in your post. The easiest change would probably be to project management in a different field, but that would depend a lot of why you aren’t happy with the role now.

My biggest advice to to think about what you’re running from now. Most people jump from one bad fit to another, and that can be really demoralizing. Once you’ve figured that out, you can tackle how to transfer your skills to something new. That’s how I approach things with my clients, at least.

I’ll send a message to you tonight when I’m back at the house. Thank you for your insight.

A bit freaked out by my “generalist” approach to litigation so far. Almost two years in and couldn’t really say I’m that “good” in any one area.

Don’t really have my own clients, and I feel like in order for me to gain the confidence necessary to obtain them, I need to specialize in SOMETHING.

Million dollar question - any areas of litigation seen as being a good specialty to get into now/for the future?
