Went to Cancun on my honeymoon. Wife and I were underwhelmed. It's overly touristy.
Rising Star
Ya idk. Also Cancun isn’t worth it, at this point you can go to Pensacola and get a similar experience. Ixtapa, Manzanillo, and even PV are way better culturally. The food is still local and not completely overtaken by foreign chains.
I would wait. Mexico isn't disappearing anytime soon, and honestly it ranks close to US in how badly they're handling coronavirus
During hurricane season. Good idea coupled with covid.
The world is in chaos and you want to vacay?
August is hot and humid for Cancun - averages around 90F. When I went I made sure I either stayed in the pool/near the ocean (boating, snorkeling, scuba, etc). Also ended up in a mild hurricane where everything was shut down for 1-2 days due to flooding/wind.
I went to playa mujeres the first week of June which is 10 miles north of Cancun. It was totally fine just wear a mask, stay on the resort, and stay at a nice resort. They have precautions in place. Continue to quarantine when you get home.
Mexico is the next hotspot, so no, I wouldnt go

I would recommend against Cancun for the same reasons the others said.
I'll be a contrarian to the others and say that as long as you follow basic precautions, the covid risk level should be relatively low.
There is the risk of a potential flare-up between now and then, as well as hurricane risks, so I'd definitely get trip insurance if you can.
Trip insurance is not covering COVID at this point. It’s totally buyer beware.
Aside from Quintana Roo being a current hot spot, google Cancun Sargasso. Bit of a sea weed explosion at the moment.
I quarantined for a month in Tulum. It was perfect, got to enjoy the weather and beaches over the weekends without the typical crowds.
