I am torn between moving to a product director role (unicorn fintech) vs continuing my current role (principal at a M&A strategy boutique, can make partner in 1-2 years) vs moving to corporate development roles (no offers yet). I have 16 years of experience, recent 4 yrs of which in M&A commercial due diligences. I see all three as attractive options, but is it a good pursuit to take a product director role at a recently turned fintech unicorn vs the other options?

In my initial conversation with the recruiter we established that their compensation package was likely below what I would need to move but they mentioned for the “right candidate” they could make anything happen. I’m now on the third round and they want to schedule a super panel. How should I go back to the recruiter to ensure that this isn’t a waste of my time or theirs?
