I am trying to move to being a Data Scientist for tech companies. Currently working as a Analytics Manager on the ad agency side and don't directly manage anyone at the moment. My analytics team is very small, just me and the director.

How do you answer questions when hiring manager asks if I currently manage people. I have helped train people in the past.

I would be honest as you have been in your post, and use coaching based language to describe how you’ve trained people (so it sounds like a longer term relationship rather than you downloading knowledge). Also cite any examples you can of being accountable for deliverables other people feed into even if they weren’t directly on your team.

If you are interested in managing, it's a good opportunity to talk about that aspect of your career growth, and what you hope to get out of it. Including relevant past experiences like training colleagues or leading projects will help the hiring manager understand your trajectory and interest.

I mentored, managed relationships, acted as the go to for multiple teams... and then one day I was a manager of two people and then another I had multiple teams... show the management skills you have.

How to deal with a Senior Associate who originates $300k to $400k annually but only bills 60-70 hours/month? This individual routinely "delegates" very simple assignments at 5pm due the next morning. Our firm has a 1900 billable requirement, which SA never gets remotely close to but they "bring in business." I'm well on track to hit my hours and find it extremely annoying that I need to keep sacrificing my evenings to work on dumb fire drills for someone that bills less than half what I do.

Did a first interview with hr rep, went very well. she set up the hiring manager meeting for a few days later. Met with the manager. Another great conversation, went over time and was told I’d hear back about panel set up. Following day I get a request from hr rep to “continue the conversation” with manager. This is set up Tuesday.
Why do you think the manager wants to meet again? Good? Bad? I felt great about the interview when we ended.

I am contemplating a move to industry (PE firm) and currently in PA. It’s a tax director role.

For those of you who have made the change. Would you say your satisfied or bored?

My fear is that my technical skills won’t grow as fast as in PA since the consulting work would be outsourced and I would mostly be a liaison for the advisors. Tax technical is very important to me.

Also wanted to see if there are any questions you would ask at the interview using hindsight?

Love being on a case with a bunch of parties that inevitably end up filing contentious and borderline frivolous discovery motions back and forth, squabbling over scheduling, and threatening sanctions. Meanwhile I sit back and evaluate our legal position and either develop evidence for trial/dispositive motions or get a fair resolution and dip. Very much enjoy the show though

I work in a corp environment & wondering what others think about this -

I have a large team and after me, I have a supervisor and a manager who my supervisor reports to. The manager recently got promoted to director & my boss is likely to take her role within the next 6 mos.

I was promoted in aug and wondering if it’s crazy to ask for another promo after my boss gets manager. This wouldn’t be for 6-12mos & I will be in my role for close to a year.

Is this too soon to ask? TIA!

When should someone send rejection mail or reject the other offers when the person is holding multiple offers and decided already which company the person wanna join?

Should someone hold a company as backup till the last moment or send the rejection only after joining one company if the person having only 2 offers?

Thanks.
