I am working in audit for 6 years now and felt stuck recently. Audit feels like the most taken for granted service line with low salary and bad WLB. Thinking of shifting to advisory, but not sure what’s strand. Any advice? My main consideration is compensation (including bonus) and exit options.

What do you enjoy doing? Don’t make a move just for the sake of getting out of audit or you might be just as miserable.

like

I’m not miserable in audit. I like it but not enough to make me stay. So anything audit like with higher compensation is good. Actually anything I’m happy to start a new. I like learning new things. In audit I like data analytics playing with numbers and documenting it on a pretty working paper. I’m getting a lot of compliments on my documentation not because of aesthetics, but because it’s organised, well written, simple and easy to understand.

You've been in audit for 5 years too long. Go to advisory for better comp and better WLB.

What are some other LoS in advisory D1?

I shifted from audit advisory and it is different BS “but the shit still stank” I don’t know how much better it is tbh just different

I got offer from KGS. It has a flexible compensation in the salary. I understand these are allowances for getting tax benefits. There are allowances like "Expenses made against education", "Mobile/landline bill reimbursement", "Purchase of computer at home". I am confused if these will be paid as part of salary directly or I need to provide bills to get these allowances? If I don't provide any value for these allowances while structuring my salary, can I adjust the amount to some other allowance

Can anybody here refer me for a position at DE Shaw? Also, any insight on what should be included in the resume would be really helpful for me and others as well. I mean relevant projects/info related to the position should be included but anything else like resume structure etc.

Thank you so much.

Could use some perspective from folks here! I joined as in-house counsel from V20 recently. When I interviewed for the position, the hiring manager explained the team structure and broadly gave me a career path in the company. The day I joined I learned of a long term secondee who’s around my same level that they’re planning on bringing in with the exact same job description as me. I feel extremely frustrated and had I known this before joining, I might have made a different decision. Contd.
