Hey there - I’m a M at Accenture and a current CC. I’m sorry this happened to you. Are you CDP or TDP? Either way, your CC absolutely dropped the ball and you need a new CC, ideally before the June / July conversations. Given that it’s fairly new process, I’ve always heard the Client Account input form positioned as a key input into the process rather than a disqualifying factor. However, your CC should absolutely have followed up with your project on this - following up about your performance and progress is table stakes for a CC.

I am in TDP. And I believe he knows that but refuses to take responsibility for it. I agree and believe that I need a CC. In fact, while I was talking with him regarding the situation, he kept saying if you decide you want a new CC then that’s okay too.... I honestly would like one but don’t know anyone or where to start.

The best thing I learned about Accenture is to switch career counselors as soon as they pull some shit like this Sometimes it’s that they don’t want to waste their political capital on you (especially mid years) and sometimes they just don’t care. I had a CC who prioritized a peer for promotion one fall and I dropped him immediately and got a CC, told him my goal, and had him lay out what I needed to do. Create your own ppt of what you’ve done. It’s best if you can relay work to actual client spend (like assets that led to deals/sales and the amount) If a CC pushes back on your promotion story without doing due diligence, dump them. Also, just for political reasons, look for the regional leaders of your practice as potential CCs. They generally have a better idea of the politics involved and also have brownie points because they volunteer their time to manage the region’s sales. (Side note: This is also the only person it’s worth it to do BD with because it’s most likely to lead to better outcomes for you. Anyone else is looking for free labor with no political compensation )

Thank you so much! I will most definitely do that! You are much appreciated

Exact reason I left Accenture, you are nothing but a number expected to burn yourself to the ground for them to not even care 🤷🏼‍♀️

Pretty much sums it up, oh well

Uhm.. I’ve never worked at Accenture, but did your CC told you beforehand that client input is required for you to be up for promotion? This should’ve came up during your January conversation to prepare for your case! I am absolutely real mad for you!!

like

That’s just terrible. Especially after reading the rest of your responses below. I would hate to be in your position. Start looking elsewhere that’ll appreciate your worth!!!

This has happened to me twice here at Accenture. Many directors take you for granted. Go back to them on how you bought value to their client, and be assertive on what you are looking for. Also the company size is huge, nobody here cares if someone misses their promotion. You will have to stand up for yourself. The reasons they gave are BS because they haven't supported you in discussion and are now trying to cover up, only because they need you to grind on their project

I just accepted an offer from slalom because I got treated the same way last November

I think your cc is supposed to follow up with your supervisor on these types of things. Sounds like your cc might be a dud 🙁

I am not sure who the lead is but I’m sure I can find it. What would I say to them?

Long story short, I’m not getting promoted after meeting with them biweekly, discussing my goals and priorities only for there to be miscommunication on both their parts. I feel so... angry. I trusted my director would put my feedback, and trusted my CC would reach out to my account if there wasn’t feedback.

Your CC screwed up big time. He should have advocated you. I am a M and I would never do this to my counselee.

Thank you for understanding, I appreciate it. I knew I was not crazy.

Hey there! This happened to me at my old firm. 2 years in a row. I decided to leave rather than stay out another year. Yes, both times I was going for early promo but the 2nd time I was way ahead of all my peers. It was documented too. I decided to leave. There is a huge difference between being valued and being championed. They are not championing you. Switch counselors or service lines. If that doesn’t help - leave. I’m happy to help you.

I’m so glad you did what’s best for you!!! I would love to chat with her because I feel like leaving the firm completely

so I joined in march 2020 and didn’t get promoted or anything, should I be going up for promotion at mid year too?

I wanted to update y’all and let y’all know that I left it alone and began to look for a new CC. Only to find my current CC that messed me up, reported me to HR for being “unprofessional and a poor communicator”. Honestly, I’m livid. I have no idea why he would do that.
