I applied for a position in a new department and I didn’t get the job. The manager passed along to the recruiter that another role is opening up within a week and she wanted me to apply for it. Tomorrow is 3 weeks since the recruiter said that and the job still isn’t posted. I emailed her checking in a few days ago, and no response. I have other, less exciting, opportunities in front of me. Do I hold out for this job or move on?

FWIW 3 weeks of little to no movement on the job posting front isn't that long. Do you want this role you're waiting on or are you prioritizing getting out of your current role?

That's probably it. They shouldn't have assigned a discrete time table unless they were sure.

If getting out of your current role is the priority then get the ball rolling for other positions that are active. No telling how long this other one might stay in limbo.

Billables angst - I lateraled to follow a partner to a new office (so no existing pile of work or public job opening).

I have a reduced hours req to ramp up. It took 5 months to bill as many hours as I would need in a normal year. It's highly unlikely/physically impossible to hit even the reduced req for this first year because of how agonizingly slow I was the first 4 months.

Literally no one has said anything but here I am on the ledge. Talk me down?
