I applied for my dream job a job a week ago. How do I maximize my chances of getting it without looking like a total creep?

No, it's never detrimental. Just make sure it's thoughtful and actually relevant as opposed to "I want a job please because this is my "dream" job", whatever that means. Make sure you're not writing cliches and empty phrases or buzzwords. Be sincere. Good luck!

Reaching out to the director of talent in the way described above makes great sense. However, they will likely be swamped by others who also think it is their dream job. Find somebody, anybody within the organization to act as your confident, liaison or advocate who can connect you with the person(s) who will act as the hiring manager.

Tell them someone else offered you a job and use it as leverage to get them to give you an offer. “I got an offer and I need to get back to them in 5 days. Can you make an offer within 5 days?”

I mean it’s like poker - it’s called bluffing and leverage. You have to feel out how desperate they are.

Like in sales, when you don’t create urgency, your prospect will just feel like I can buy that anytime.

Versus if you create the perception (whether real or not), then you create leverage and immediacy for the other party to act.

Just think about when you REALLY had two or more offers from competing companies. That’s what you would say! And you can see if a company is serious about you based on how fast they want to move, especially if they think someone wants to hire you first. It’s simple psychology and sales.

Just in case you don't already know... this is still an interview. How you follow up is an interview. How you take "no", how you take a stonewalling treatment. Do you continue on looking or do you follow up with poise and tact?

If I'm your hiring manager - I want to see how much you want THE job, not A job.

The amount I have to pay you is just going to be a number after all this. Now you know the brief. Make it happen.

I see Microsoft’s Audit Manger position requiring 3 + YOE. That sounds odd to me. I would expect at least 5 + YOE.

Do Audit Managers prepare work papers in this case ? Just curious.

I have a new job potentially starting Jan 1. Thinking about a weekend in Vegas mid Dec. Anyone else want to join? F 44. Not married and no kids - I like to party and do a bit of gambling.. prefer fun people with good sense of humor to go with. Nothing weird. Just think a new crowd would be fun. My manager put me on development plan under the HR supervision, he confirmed that it’s not a performance plan but failure in fulfilling development plan can lead to probation/performance plan and my job could be in jeopardy. Despite working hard thru out full planning cycle and getting appreciation all year,
