I applied to a smaller firm and their application asks if I can contact my present employer at this time. I haven’t told anyone I’m considering leaving but wouldn’t it look bad to say no?

I would write “not at this time - only after accepting an interview” or something to that nature.

I always say no

Always no or ask me first

I always say no for current employer.

Are recruiters especially whack in this time or am I imagining? I’m in process of moving forward with technical interviews, but I can’t get a confirmed response on an agreed time. I’m a new SM at b4. Shipped to a harsh client the organization is not sending any of its long tenured ppl to because tough environment, not exhilarating work. I have a team of 2 under me but it’s a back office transformation with long hours. Could be adding more value elsewhere, in sales, BD, strategic pursuits, etc but bogged down with 16 hour dreadful days. Do we think I can make an argument to be rolled off or will I be perceived unfavorably? I’m new so optics matter. Advice?

Feeling really insecure and anxious about my finances.

I worked mediocre jobs in my 20s but was diligent about saving and I had an okay nest egg saved up.

It was supposed to be a down payment on a home but unexpected medical costs ate through that super quickly.

I make low six figures and live pretty frugally so no stuggles day to day but here I am in my late 30s and im essentially starting from scratch again and it feels really bad 😓

Anyone looking for associate audit position at a local firm near Orlando? Message me

Got an offer and they set the compensation as base salary 20k above my current salary (after tax would not that significant) but they also have adding 65k equity with 4 yrs vesting, bonus is like 10%. Not sure if it is worth the jump compensation wise. I never dealt with equity before so want to have an idea of fairness.
