I became a lawyer to litigate but have found myself in a more compliance role because of the pandemic. There are things about litgation that I miss but I love my team and the firm I work for. I'm not over worked, I have a very good work life balance and I'm being compensated fairly. I'm thinking about going back to a law firm am I crazy?

If your role got shifted because of the pandemic, it may be worth waiting until things normalize before making a career altering decision . . .

It’s a personal decision, obviously, but a great firm + a great team + great compensation + great work/life balance = stay where you’re at.

These are decisions that you have to make. You also have to think about where you want to be five-ten years down the road. There is something to be said for having time to spend with your family. This is especially true if you have children.

Have you considered finding a compliance role that allows you to keep a hand in on the side with your license to practice?

Yes

Can you keep your job but take the occasional pro bono case? Some law firms will loop in the clients’ in-house lawyers to PB matters, and that might interest you.

I actually really like the idea of litigating on the side. I'll have to look into it.

I have a really unique opportunity to go in-house with a large company, but I have questions about the motivations and management capabilities of my would be direct supervisor. In other words, I am concerned that my direct supervisor may be a “bad boss.” I am still highly considering the role as this is a position that I know I can excel in and one that I will likely never have the opportunity for again. Should I: 1) take the job; or 2) run for the hills?

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

Hi all - I’m working as a Jr AE at a remote agency. Before full-time at this agency, I interned there for 2 years and often did pro-bono work. I love my company so much, but I often feel stuck when it comes to salary and growth. The salary is minimum wage and every time I ask about a raise they agree I need one but never get around to it. Today, I was offered a position at another agency as a remote AE with more than double my current salary. I didn’t seek this job out but don’t know what to do.
