I believe the first thing that we should discuss in any professional development of educational theory should be that Mann and Dewey the founding fathers were socialist and communist.
They wanted a change in the American education because at that time the majority of schools were either catholic or Protestant and the goal was to take religious ideals out of educating American youth.
We need to assure this is still not happening in any of our schools were any religion is discriminated against.

Taking religious ideals out of schools is not the same as discriminating against religion. We do still have separation of church and state in this country. That doesn't mean there aren't ways to teach good values inclusive of all belief systems.

Indiana -I know I harp on these details like facts vs revisionism. But please inform me of 18th century socialism - considering it was 100 years before Marx and Engels.

I was sarcastically pointing out the anachronism myself.

Yes, we should discuss how some of the founding fathers (18th century) subscribed to socialism (19th century) and/or communism (20th century).

If anything we need more teachers who are vocally pro-worker and pro-union.

Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that it’s against any law to be a socialist or a communist, but it most definitely states that our government will not establish a religion.

I fail to see what your issue is. The fact of the matter is that we need to continue to assure that religion indoctrination remains out of public education, not the opposite.

Hugo Black was also anti-Catholic and a member of the KKK.

I agree. Some suggested those two were Wiccan’s too…not 100% sure though

Might be a long shot, but wanted to see if this bowl could share any wisdom/insight. A friend has been offered a role as an independent contractor commercial counsel for a pre IPO tech company in NYC (roughly 10-20 hrs/wk) with the possibility of becoming a full time offer. He has roughly 3 yoe and was at a V10 firm doing tech transactions work but took time off for health. Would appreciate any insights into what a reasonable hourly wage would be to offer up in negotiations. Thanks in advance!
