The portal wouldn't open up and it was pretty much the last day. Also, Friday. So, I booked it since the flight was cheaper than what most of my colleagues got.
Anyway, it's fine if they have a problem. Sorta my mistake so I'll see.

@EY5, I should've called. I didn't really think it through. At that point, I just happened to check the airline website and I found tickets cheaper than what my peers had booked, so I didn't really think it would be so problematic.
Also, unfortunately it was over the weekend so, I pretty much lost out on the 24 hour thing.
I don't think this as problematic. Communicate this to the training team, tell them what happened and it seems like you were diligent in looking for cheap prices so you should be fine.

Do you suggest I should reach out to them? The expense report's been in audit since the beginning of this week, so I was actually waiting for them to come back to me.
Although, after what you've said I feel like waiting for them to reach out to me may not be the best decision. What do you feel?
I would wait and see if it goes through. If it doesn't contact the person leading this training and explain to them exactly what happened. One thing that I realize can get you out of sticky situations is to communicate, communicate. But I think ultimately you'll be fine

Hey have you tried calling the portal now and seeing if they can add a reference number to the existing reservation. Sometimes those people can work Magic and it might not hurt to try
