I burned out It took Covid for me to realize just how stressed I was on a day to day basis. Thankfully, moved into industry and got help from doctor and therapy and am beginning to recover. I hope you all take care of yourselves and don't have to go through what I did. We are all type A personalities, however and I feel that because we are, our instinct is to push through the pain. Just writing this to hopefully get you all to check in on yourselves.

Glad to hear you are feeling better OP. If you are comfortable with it, could you share how you approached the discussion with your doctor on this, and what they were able to do to help? I was in a similar spot several months ago but never really sought a medical opinion, was able to manage everything through exercise & good mental health hygiene. I do want to discuss it with my doc at the annual check-up, so was just curious.

Oh and one other thing. Maybe the most important thing. Go by how you feel. Don't compare yourself to others or say "Well, XYZ can do this so I should be able to as well." Help is out there for everyone who wants it. Don't let your pride get in the way.

How do the hours now compare to consulting on average?

Sweet spot buddy. Often it’s not about working “less”... it’s more about having “predictability” that has a significantly positive impact.

Congrats OP! I am glad you are feeling better now. What did you switch to?

Just jumped to private sector from government services consulting. I have also been in public sector so I now have pretty much done it all.

Why does it say you still work at Deloitte?

If anything like me, it’s to keep up with the gosp

I just found out that the person I was with last year is with someone new. We were separated because of distance/covid. It just makes me sad because I feel that covid took away the opportunity for us to be together and further develop the connection that we had. It was unique and hard to find. So much has changed. I’ll get over it and if we aren’t going to be together then I am sure it’s for the best. Just feeling this heaviness today.

Genuinely want advice - in Seattle just for covid (likely until next spring at least), and been casually dating a guy for like 2 months. We’re both ‘cute’ towards each other (everything from cuddling to real compliments on personality/attractiveness). He was scrolling through his phone and I saw Tinder still downloaded (but we’re unmatched on my Tinder). We haven’t had the ‘exclusive’ talk so i don’t fully expect him to be, but would like clarity on if he is seeing anyone else. Should I ask?

Thoughts??

Need some insight into menopause. I’ve been living with my family during covid and it’s been very difficult with my mom. She is mostly in a bad mood, constantly picks fights, has mood swings at times, and is miserable. Some of this is due to other issues at home but I’m wondering if it could be hormonal. Is this menopause?

Parents of newborns, how are you approaching having visitors during Covid? I’m pregnant and trying to figure out what are reasonable expectations of my family and friends around visitation/holding the baby (anything from washing hands when they come over to quarantining before visiting and holding the baby). I want to make sure we’re protecting ourselves/the baby and our older family members who are at a higher risk. Our families live nearby so I anticipate they may want to visit frequently

Question regarding traditional vs Roth 401k decision. I joined a new firm and they allow for Roth 401k and Mega back door Roth contribution. I’m 26 years old with a salary of 135k + bonus and have a traditional IRA (previous 401k) and a Roth IRA that are similar worth (50k each) I’m trying to decide how I should go about my new 401k with my new firm. Should I go with traditional 401k for the tax relief and after-tax back door to my Roth IRA? Thoughts, suggestions please. TIA
