Deloitte GPS Business Analyst vs Mercer Health Consulting Analyst?
Deloitte's offer is 7K more and in a cheaper area. Equal interest in both jobs, slight preference for Mercer for people + culture. Leaning towards Mercer because I graduate in Dec and can start in Jan vs having to wait until next summer for Deloitte + location (although higher COL)
Concerns:
Exit opportunities
Pigeonhole-ing myself into health consulting / How hard would it be to join Big 4 in a year or two if I don't like it

“Pay for performance” is rarely actually pay for performance.
Are you adjusting for inflation?
To be honest, 11% in today's inflation envornment is nothing to hit home about. Inflation is close to 9%
Coming from industry first, try getting used to raises that do not exceed 4-5% even for top performers on high budget teams. If you’re a high performer on a lower budget team, take your 3% and be happy.
11% may not be great with today’s inflation, but it’s something to write home about in comparison to the alternatives.
Most are seeing 15% to 30% raises depending on performance
Just because your service line didn't get that, no reason to be jelous. For my service line and practice = yes.
After life events - marriage or kids you are often treated like more of an adult.
Part of how this is reflected is raises. Seems like this is a subconscious thing.... Not complaining since I think it's good to re-enforce family but it's pry not fair to the singletons.
Not the case for me - a woman. But it makes me sad that other women face this. 💔
I do think progress is being made for women around this though.
Idk how long I'll personally stay in the game b/c I just like time with my kid more than my career but my career hasn't suffered. Guess I'm lucky.
Other women - only work for companies that treat you well! That's how we stop this.
It’s all about “executive presence”: I don’t care = management
