Make sure you stay hydrated. That's happened to me before and I read it was a sign of dehydration, especially if it happens in the afternoon.
If that doesn't help, maybe talk to your doctor.
Get your thyroid checked. That was me for years until a doctor finally took me seriously and did the blood tests I had been asking for. It’s super common.
Perhaps you have narcolepsy or get hypoglycemic?
I would do a clinical sleep study before saying it's for sure narcolepsy but you can develop it later in life. But also perhaps you aren't sleeping as well as you think you are.
Chew some mint gum. I swear it helps me
This happens to me too. I get the yawns. I have water - that only helps to hide the yawns. My theory is it has something to do with the stale air. It sucks.
Also get checked out for sleep apnea. Huge % of people have it and it’s undiagnosed. Or maybe.. conspire w project management to make meetings more efficient & engaging.
I was shocked to find out I have sleep apnea! No one has ever told me I snore in my sleep or make any other strange sounds. I took a sleep study for leg issues, and low and behold I also have sleep apnea.
I get super sleepy around 5 every afternoon.
Thanks for all the advice, y’all. My larger question is why do I only get unbearably sleepy in meetings? I don’t fall asleep anywhere else.
Meetings are the new “counting sheep.”
Short term solution: bite down on your tongue really hard.
You can also try taking a brisk walk before the meeting.
Talk to your doctor- don’t assume it’s not some form of narcolepsy.
