I can’t recommend this book enough if you care about income equality, finance, or taxes.

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

On my W2 federal wages are the same as NY state wages, how do I track down my New York w2 wages without access to my detailed timesheets? I would like to hit fire between 40-50. Currently 27, 185k total comp (125 for me and 60 for partner). Like my job don’t hate it don’t love it. Does an MBA make sense? I’m guessing it could take me to 170ish with that schools I’m looking at but wondering if the 40-50 retirement range makes an mba not make sense since I’d only have 10-20 years to save vs 12-22.

My wife surprised me last night for my 30th bday (which was last week) with a get together with my closest friends I have known since middle school. Most of them live out of state with kids and somehow it all worked out. Feeling really loved.

Genuine question - why do people slide into DMs on here? Me and my partner are not sure whether we want to have kids . Sometimes we want to and the next day we are completely against the idea . The reason we want to have kids is that we want to grow our inner circle , have more people in this world who we can call our family. I honestly struggle with the politics of Afghanistan. It does appear that after 20 years we leave and within months it goes back to very similar or on its way. It’s not the US job to be the world police we did try to build coalitions and fail at the end of the day unless we’re willing to keep troops there forever which most Americans don’t want to I am not sure what the right thing to do is. And I’m sick of criticism just for the sake of the president. I don’t think there’s a perfect solution

Thought - In the Georgia runoff elections, the best use of Democrat money would be to run ads which seem to have a conservative bent and play up the election fraud conspiracies, claiming the election system is broken and can’t be trusted. Maybe even offer up a way to grieve their frustrations with the system (that isn’t voting obviously). Would be so effing perfect if Rs lost the senate because trump cast doubt on election integrity.
