The 1st step is admitting..only you know what you want to do.. if you know you have a problem I suggest only suggest that you get into a rehab or go to AA meetings every day for at least 90 days get a sponsor and your sponsor will guide you the rest of the way… people on this platform are going to give u different answers because it depends on where people are in their recovery process… this is only my suggestion.. and mine only! That’s what has worked for me… my clean date is 7/30/1988… and I’m still here only because I followed the same suggestion I just shared with u ♥️ “meeting makers make it”!
There are alot of books and podcasts you can listen to. I loved This Naked Mind book. If you're struggling you can check out open meetings of AA and see if that helps
Buy the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous and see if you relate
See a psychiatrist. Ask about Naltrexone.

Don’t overthink it, but give this a read. It comes from the AA Big Book 📖, but the source is irrelevant right now.
Basically it provides a description of the disease of alcoholism. Nobody wants to have this disease, and we all build a wall of denial around the possibility that our drinking struggles are more than just poor (pour, ha) decisions or momentary weak will power.
When I read the description below for the first time, I was like, “holy sh*t, this explains so much and describes my experience exactly.” Basically, I obsess about drinking, I always believe this time will be different, I conveniently forget the misery of my precious bouts, and once I start I lose control and drink way more than I intended to. The real kicker, is that once I start drinking, I swear it’s me deciding to have more.
What if though, there was a disease that kicks into high gear in the presence of alcohol and starts making those decisions for you? And the only decision is more…

If YOUR drinking -- at any level or capacity -- is making you uncomfortable, it's time for some soul searching..Use tools provided by any number of sources and honestly look at the effect your drinking has on your life. The questions sourced from AA are a start. I was lucky in that there was no question whatsoever that I was a mess. I just had to take the first step, admit it, and start recovery through AA along with some outpatient and therapy work. Sounds simple and it is. It's just really, really hard to do that. Do it for one day and take the next one when it comes. Before you know it your life is different and, usually, better in ways you couldn't have imagined. Looking back after 38 years this is my truth.
Check out an AA meeting and get a big book sponsor. It’s a thinking disorder too- can’t fix the problem with the same disordered brain. Someone with personal experience will be able to help you.
