Contact HR and ask, they can and will ask for the money back . It happens more often than you think.
As a summer associate, I was somehow accidentally paid too much and they definitely asked for it back 😭!
It is possible your firm raised all associate pay. We have done that at our firm many times. We always announce it though, as the goodwill is part of the reason for increasing pay. You should check with HR and return the money if it was an error.

Or you could just stick the money in a savings account…HR will not ask you for interest
How significant are we talking? That’s what happened to me, got a 16% raise 2 months in, but I was at-least notified of it lol.
10% lol
My firm raised the associate starting salary since they were hiring at a higher starting point and anyone who hasn’t been here a year got a raise (and if they were below the new starting salary)
I came in slightly higher than others in my class so I doubt it, but it is possible. Thanks for the thought!
This happened to me too. I assume they raised my salary to match the other associate salaries and didn’t say anything.

Did you look at the pay statement? Is it a change to overall comp and not just your take home? You get more in take home later in the year because you have put in enough on toward certain taxes (social security I think). Since you just started may also be that they made some glitch in the first few checks and are fixing it now.
This happened to me once. HR was fired right after. No one said anything.
How much is the increase? You sure it’s not a bonus or a reimbursement of some sort? Doubt they made a mistake in your salary but if they did 🤐🤐🤐
10% increase. Not a bonus- I was checking my direct deposit because I received a bonus, which was correct. That’s how I noticed my regular pay was increased on this paycheck and the one prior. I haven’t submitted any reimbursements.
It seems odd that they would have made this mistake, but I can’t make sense of any other explanation.
I recently asked for a raise and received it. The first paycheck after that my boss called me and said he realized he had been overpaying me every paycheck pre-raise. He (obviously/thankfully) said that money is mine to keep, but it meant that my new post-raise salary didn’t look like that much more than pre raise.
But my firm is small and my boss pays me via Zelle, and must have just done the math wrong the first time he sent my pay. Human error basically
I would talk about it with HR, personally. Establishing trust is a huge part of the game in making partner. If the firm realizes you never reported what turned out to be a mistake, they will not likely be impressed. But if you do report it, possibly to your detriment, you will get major trust points. This probably also depends on the size of the firm. A huge firm might not care. But midsized or smaller certainly will.
