I clerked for a federal district court judge and am now doing a federal court of appeals clerkship. I have an informal understanding with my old firm that I will return. It’s a small market with only 3-4 other 100+ attorney firms. I liked my old firm and have good relationships with firm leadership. Should I still apply to other firms, to make sure I’m getting fair compensation terms? I’m not particularly interested in working elsewhere but want to make sure I don’t get shortchanged.

I had a quick question

Had a call with audit leaders last week and were told that they haven't finalized the office building and they will get possession of the new building in Pune only by Jan 2023.

Currently they just have the ITS with the seating capacity of 30 people.

Now for audit they want us to go to office 2 days every week. How are we supposed to do that when they don't even have an office? But they are still adamant to get us back to office location by June 1.

Has anyone relocated to Pune? I’m confused regarding the office location. And my manager who sits in UK doesn’t have any issue if I continue to WFH

My firm requires 200 hours bills per month, now they have been cracking down on us to bill 50 per week. I’m so exhausted. I absolutely hate this place. Insurance defense wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for these insane requirements. We also have to do update charts by weekly for every single one of our cases. All for a measly $85k while the firm makes thousands and thousands per week from each attorney. You only get a bonus for meeting the billable requirement, only to end up with about $2200.

I worked for a firm with a very high turnover. The firm leaders were awful - that was universally recognized. After some bad reviews on Glassdoor, management rallied their favorite employees to write glowing reviews. When you read Glassdoor reviews - it sounds like a great place to work (save a few negative reviews). How does duping potential hires help anyone?

Last week- found out my boss, and our firm owner, has stolen from clients by adding expenses we didn’t spend.
Today- boss opens firm despite corona positive employee while the rest of us are waiting on our results. Told me to learn how to do his secretarial work.

Is asking first year associates to hit 215 billable hours normal?!

Small PI boutique, 6 attorneys. Partner told me I’d get a company car (hyundai) and said not to mention it to anyone, as they stopped giving out company cars last year. I know this is false - his car (audi) other partner’s car (acura) and two senior associates cars (bmw + volvo) are on company’s insurance policy. Is it normal for partners to outright lie about compensation/perks like this??
